i5-4690k or i7-4790k

i5-4690k vs i7-4790k. hey, which cpu should i get of the two? My plan is to play mostly cod gta v and car games like the crew and project cars.. i game with spotify, skype (often talking w someone),twitch, google, steam and either bandicam or msi afterburner! i want to game with 60+ fps with all the graphics on ultra (highest) and in 1920x1080p. which is the best then? and while i ask this should i have more than 8GB of ram to have all this open?

You'll be totally fine with a 4690K. Do you plan on actually overclocking?

4690K would be more than enough. I'd recommend at least a bit more than 8GB.

if you got the dough - i7, both are lga-1150, so mobo won't matter. Yes you will want more than 8gb of ram to have all that open at once.

CPU: Since you are only gaming, you dont need i7

RAM: I would say you stick with 1 stick of 8gm ram in case you want to upgrade later.

8GB will be fine, get it in 4GB x2 though not 8GB x1, and the i5-4690k will be sufficient for you, if you have the money then sure get the i7, but it wont increase your fps by anything significant, you could save the money and get a better GPU if you wanted, or more ram. What is your current GPU, that will determine if you can run the games at 1080p max settings @60fps, the ram or cpu wont be the bottleneck in your case.

A lot of people will here will say get the 4790k if you can afford it, I disagree with that. Why? Because this is all the i7 has over the 4690k

1. Higher clock speed, which doesn't mean much since you can overclock the 4690k to match it easily

2. Higher cache size....which translates to more temp memory, so in other words, pointless really

3. Hyperthreading, which really only becomes useful if you're a streamer or own a youtube channel that you make vids for daily, and even then, you'd probably opt for lga2011 or lga2011-v3 anyhow. Unless the program supports it, Hyperthreading doesn't offer any benefits, it's just a smart task manager is all.

So really, go with the 4690k, it's more than enough for gaming, and if you want a real media workstation just get a 6 core build.

4790k if you can afford it. If you can't, 4690k. Never go down a step if you have the money to buy it.

Cool then I would get the 4690k and overclock it, then stick with 8GB of ram to start, if you need more you can always add more after. The 970 should let you play the games you want at 1080p with max settings, the 4690k 100% wont bottleneck it so you should be good to go.

Agreed with the i5-4690K. 16 GB would be reasonable, but I think 8 GB should be enough for what you intend to use. Your usage is comparable to my own.
