Blast from the past?

A.D.A.M
So, on my week break I went back to my old house and guess what I found.

GX9Nklt.jpg
From what my dad told me this was the first computer he got for the house. I remember playing MegamanX and stuff on this thing.(or maybe that was a different computer... i don't know I have crap memory)

Then I was like must steal the old CPU and disassembled the whole thing.

So first thing that greated me was this mess...

FP0DAQE.jpg

and the sketchy looking PSU that came with it (maybe it wasn't actually sketchy, but I've not heard of them)

Dgiqfoa.jpg

First thing I pulled was this thingymagic.

XJbC7bZ.jpg

Interesting stuff printed on the cable

UiZR6UX.jpg

Terminates into this thing

[spoiler=tell me what this thing is, im so noob xD]tf4AZJY.jpg

Next is a Creative Sound Blaster

Fcdd9SG.jpg

Onward to the IDE hard drive. Man was that thing heavy...(Or maybe i'm just a wimp)

Here's the floppy (at least i think it's floppy) dusty little bugger.

GPWN49p.jpgYiXCIqT.jpg

So... was using foam a thing in the past???

WOOO green PCB!!

Finally we have arrived to the meat of the pie.

Unfortunately no, though that would be an interesting situation. I just kinda forgot to take a picture with the cpu in the socket... But I like that story more so lets go with that.

Pretty sure the knob thing on the FDD is the motor.

That yellow port on the motherboard is a Game Port. Commonly used for joysticks and controllers. I think.

If you twist the cooler instead of just lifting straight up, you'll have a better chance at keeping the CPU in the socket and it'll be easier to remove the cooler. ;)

AMD's are known for sticking to the cooler and being yanked out of the socket. Usually doesn't damage anything though.

Always enjoy looking at/tearing down old hardware, thanks for posting. :)

Of course :D  Also, It's doubtful you'll be able to use the soundcard. Onboard audio is certainly better currently, you'd need a legacy PCI slot, and you'd have a hell of a time finding the drivers. I have the same card at home (according to looks), and I could only find drivers up to Vista with glitchy Win7 operation, and both of those were developed by a third party and are no longer supported..

This is actually not that old of a pc but it  might be for you.(not trying to sound like a jerk but every time i reread it it does lol)

You could try that sound card in your system and see if it makes a difference it probably will if your using a cheap-ish motherboard`s onboard sound.

I  have GameServer`s And VOIP servers the only price is that you have fun on them.

True.. would likely work on Linux. Haven't tried either yet, no desktop running 8 at the moment, and the card is sort of 300+ miles from me at the moment... I'm at college and left most of my hardware at home!

A Creative Sound Blaster card is also in this old AGP PC below my desk. I'd use it (for giggles) but my board has no PCI slots.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. That PSU indeed looks sketchy.

"PELINGO", should have been "PELIGRO", sketchy indeed, but I would like to see its interior components to see which brand the capacitors are.

Pretty sure Onboard audio these days is much better than what he could get with that card.
