AMD R9 390X with 8 gigs of ram?

cluelessgenius

But what will the price be eh?

Probably around where the 290X 4Gb models are now.

I just wish I had 4. 8 is probably overkill 99.99% of the time, 6GB would make more sense.

It's either stay at 4GB or go double to 8GB. IMO a card with 6GB is more like one with a cripple VRAM setup. Want to be more than 4GB so it sounds better, but then it's meh, as it fails to reach 8GB. There are 6GB cards, but then its original vram is 3GB, double that, and it's 6GB.

I still have yet to go past 2GB of VRAM usage. So this is kinda weird for me.

Hopefully it performs something like Titan X, I hope, cause 900 series was meh in terms of performance.

But still it will chop 390x to pieces.

Fiji is estimated to be around ~12% faster than the TITAN X. I don't see any backup plan other than re-branding the TITAN X and overclocking it.

Essentially a 290X with updated architecture (Tonga GCN 1.2) with either 2816 or 3072 shaders and you're gonna be pissed if it beats the 970? It's practically a foregone conclusion.

In question if AMD does decide to update the architecture in their next series. Rumors suggest all re-brands while others suggest an entire new series.

Hopefully it performs something like Titan X, I hope, cause 900 series was meh in terms of performance.

Estimated ~12% faster than TITAN X based on leaked benchmarks.

AMD will release something to counter that. Then the cycle repeats itself.

If they do, they'll probably releasing something with like 7.... .5 GB of VRAM

More like something with a flat 7GB of vRAM.

Minecraft with shaders at 4K DSR will fix that-well over 3GB vRAM usage for me (and 15-20FPS).

It could be true. I signed up for a leap computing machine and the service will go online q3/q4 this year and the 2 options for video cards were a titanx or an unspecified AMD card with 8 gigs of vram.

If the new HBM allows such high bandwidth then 8GB makes sense and is amazing GG AMD.Im not going to buy a 300 series but im going to save money for a second gen 16nm/HBM/DX12 card from AMD(R9 400 or 500 series),thats where the great time will be to upgrade for me, prolly late 2016 or early 2017,my 670 will last until then with its poor 2gb vram.

Wait till AMD new line comes out and the reviews and benchmarks start floating around the net.  Nothing is certain most are rumours. Myself im intestered in AMD new GPU as well as Nvidia 980ti. But until both are released as for myself im not getting into the hype crowd nor am I banking my money on buying any of them until I see proof that its worth upgrading.

I am with you. I am really tempted right now to go for ultra wide + R9 390x combo but that will be hella expensive. I hope that at least ultra wide become more cheaper when 400 series will be relased and by that time A/F-Sync will be more polished.

I was running some random games on my 480 with DSR (the most demanding one being Insurgency, still got 25+ FPS with that maxed), and I don't think I hit the limit even then.
