To a degree they are but with most of the more "premium" pre-builts you do pay a price premium for their systems. It's not like that's some unknown practice though, people just like jumping on popular hate trains because it gives them a sense of belonging.

Honestly Yes and no, their desktops are overpriced, their laptops I would say no, since I still have a M17x R2 that has lasted me quite a while now 4+ years (I think) and its still going strong.

It is more logo and design than parts. They were better before Dell bought; however, they were still quite overpriced back then.

No matter where you go, Northern, Alienware, etc, you are still paying a premium for their case, design and pre-built systems. Making your own will be cheaper just for the fact that you won't be paying them to build it for you.

Still new, but learning

It really depends. Some of there systems spec'ed appropriately are alright where as others are way out of the ball park. I will admit though, I really like there case design and those elements are really hard to find in non-alienware systems.

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)

if you are non-techies guy

with load of money, don't know what to do

or what to build, but want to have something cool

with support, and assuming you are using that support

you can call them everytime you want to overclock at 3am

you can call them everytime you install crapware, virus etc

you can call them everytime your computer freeze

you can call them when it won't boot

you can call them there's bump on ur case

you can call them your computer is slow even tough you don't exactly sure how slow is that slow.

etc

20 minutes on youtube and a Windows 8.1 iso image on a flash drive will fix everything on that list.

Except the bump on the case

OH NOOOO! not a bump!

jk. The alienware cases are pure magic in terms of their design. If I'm not mistaken there's one where flaps open with little servo motors when the temperature increases and the fans start spinning to cool it down.

that way when it's idling it's almost completely silent because all of the air intakes are mostly covered which deadens the sound.

Now that I think about it I might look into making a custom build in one of those.

That would actually be pretty cool if you have a spare Alienware case lying around. If you do it I want to see it
