You will actually find that most companies ONLY support IE.

However, IE is quickly loosing market holding while Chrome is taking it, FF is also loosing theirs slightly while more and more people are switching to Chrome.  Personally I use Chrome for everything, IE for the Application Sites that require it, I usually use FF for debugging and development tools.  I keep Safari and Opera for compatibility testing.  Outside that, I also have a VM with XP and Mint for Web Development and testing.  Guess I should also mention that I have virtual phone boxes as well for making sure mobile versions of websites are working correctly.

As a web developer I've had to deal with all the naysayers and ridiculous claims as to what supports what.  Honestly IE has made HUGE improvements, but Chrome is just becoming so popular people have stopped caring.  Chrome does have a few issues with flash players, (found that to be the completely annoying popping sound coming from my computer).  FF, in my professional opinion, is probably the best all around browser someone can use, until Chrome fixes it's great many development issues.  I do however love the fact that Chrome uses a new process for each tab, so if one tab has something on it that causes a crash, it only crashes that tab and not the entire browser.

I am glad to hear this, I still us IE and whilst I have tried chrome I just don't see any difference in speed or features. I was wondering what I was missing when everyone kept saying how better Chrome is.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

I'm willing to wager that those same companies still develop on Windows XP.

No, the vast majority of them are on Win7,  Please refer to my post where I addressed this again,

I know the US DoD uses 7, so does the Army and Navy (at least the vast majority does), along with Dell, HP, Mars, and all the healthcare companies I mentioned, I've contracted with several local state and city governments across the US, they use 7.

Every Datacenter I've hosted or worked with uses 7, and exclusively IE for monitoring system software.

I'm not saying IE is better, people seem to take this information as a personal challenge or something.  I'm simply stating what the market is doing and what my experience is in the corporate world and the business I run.  I personally like to use Chrome, but as of late it's been making popping sounds so that's going to make Chrome useless soon.

I didn't say EVERY, I said majority of the companies I have worked with, I haven't worked with your local airport, and just because I said majority doesn't mean everyone should post every instance of where they encounter an XP machine to debunk what a professional says.

So why are you defending IE, again?

You are using the words from a post after what you quoted to prove a point.  The post you are quoting isn't "again" if it's prior to the post you are referring to me saying I'm not defending them.

Chrome doesn't handle the amount of tabs I use. Uses more than double in ram and the tab-bar gets crowded. So I stick with firefox:)

You must have a lot of tabs open lol.  I'm actually thinking about switching back to FF for my general browser.  I've been having a lot of issues with Chrome lately, mainly with flash crashing over and over, (Which isn't happening in FF)

You seem to have taken my use case of the word "again" a little too literal

I generally run with Chrome, or Firefox. If you watch the WAN show (live steam), and you know how many tabs they have open for the show, that matches my general layout.

I open nearly everything in a new tab.

Depending on what I'm doing, I can get upwards of 20-50 tabs, with multiple windows. (Multiple monitors = Dual tasking :D)

Back to the original post, I don't really see a reason to use so many different browsers. I guess there could be some browsers that do things better, but now that we're into the world of addons and plugins, you can very things into the style that you want. I could see some peoples reasons, but only because they didn't customize their browsers to themselves.

:D Just my two cents.
