Setup for my family members. I think it will be nice to showcase how important it is observe and listen what people really need. You might at first think that Intel NUC is overpriced, or setting up office space around dining table is a terrible idea, and I agree. But building pr0 RGB turbo rig here, for this use case, it is just stupid. Lesson I learned from this project is: you can't force your own computing habits on others. When I started at my current company as a Project Manager/Field Engineer I was given a HP Probook 455 G6 as my field laptop. The IT department of our parent company swore up and down that it would run AutoCAD with no issues and would have amazing battery life. The laptop was brand new when I received it, took the plastic off the box myself. But it has failed at every single step of that process, it not only will only barely run CAD but if I open up a word doc bigger that 500+ words it will chug and chug to make it even scrollable. And the battery wont even last 4 hours on a flight

My pc won't turn on. I press the power switch but it won't turn on. The motherboard is receiving power as the green light lights up. I got a new power supply as the old one had weird noises comming from it. The power button does work because I used a tester on it. I have concluded that its the motherboard, cpu or the ram please help me because I don't have enough money to buy all three just one of them. I have also checked all the cables and they have no problem. My system spec is: Cpu: Xeon e3 1225 Gpu: Gtx 1070 Strix MB: asus

I currently have a Samsung 34" UW 100hz monitor, which is great for large working space, but I usually just use one window, instead of two on it. I want at 240hz monitor for for gaming as I enjoy that more than working/studying, mainly playing FPS games. If the main was a TA, I would probably like the second one to be IPS for very basic video editing. Looking at my desk size, the practicality of use, and even getting full capacity, would I be best looking at going for 2 x 24" monitors( one being 1080p 240hz), over 2 x 27" monitors( one being 240hz). So here is the situation, I currently have a dual monitor setup. My main monitor is an old (2008) HP LP3065 30in monster 2560x1600 monitor. It has served me well for the 3-4 years I have owned. I got it second hand from my work back then,( which we picked up as a monitor pickup from a command center for a power company.) however it has been occuring more frequently, the monitor will burn the current image in, and hold it for some time, until a new image is displayed. This monitor is also very finicky, hates all forms of adapters, and it only has Dual Link input. I do like to play various games

Hi all, I've got a dilemma at the moment, looking at grabbing a new monitor setup and I've got a few different choices I'm playing with. I currently work in IT vendor support, a lot of troubleshooting and remote sessions with customers. Currently I've been working with 2 x 1080p (24") + 1 x 1080p (15") Laptop in a triple monitor setup. My current options are: 3 x 27" 1440p 1 x 38" 1600p + 1 x 27" 1440p 2 x 27" 1440p I'd like to make the jump to ultrawide but I'm worried I'll give up flexibility. I think in all options I'll be looking at a Dell branded monit

I've been watching Linus Tec Tips for quite a long time now, but if I'm being honest I have no clue what some of the information is that's being spit at me. With this being said, I need help finding a new computer for my mothers work load. I'm not good at these things, and her old computer from 2012 is slowly killing itself. I was looking at this one https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/workstations-isv-certified/precision-7740-mobile-workstation/spd/precision-17-7740-laptop/xctop774017us2?configurationid=c4e7f0be-2e7c-4d2c-b4a6-b261b9683897. I just got issued a new work mini PC. It's terrible. I just want to run at 21:9 ratio on my not even that great LG 34 that is about 3 years old. I also want to run one add'l screen. Intel i5 6600T HP elite desk. I am required to use this machine but I can ruin the case with a hole and I can add photo of my motherboard. I saw a video Linus did on "the beast" but the upshot of the video was, "this won't work." I don't want to do custom bios and I don't want to spend a ton of money. I have two old graphics cards at home I can use, I think GTX 960 or something like that, that aren't being used. Wi

Hey everyone. I have been out of the PC buying market, due to my budgetary limitations for some time. Aside from my work PC, my home PC is an older ASUS laptop an N56VJ to be exact, with an i7-3630QM 2.4 ghz with a GeforceGT 635M. So, its old, and it causes Overwatch at base settings to hit 90C, not great. With recent events, I may have to work from home, and as such I need to be able to handle applications that I commonly use at work quickly at home, a lot of Adobe, so Photoshop, premier, pdf editing. Basically my computer now wheezes when I have too many tabs open, so it won't work. Even

Hi everyone! I’m almost done with my university degree and since I’m starting to get some work as a freelancer I need to replace my Acer Aspire E5 from 2013. It’s configuration is a 4th gen i5, 8gb of RAM, gtx 870M, and ssd for booting and programs plus a 1tb hdd for storage. I use it mostly for web based work (WordPress, Hubspot and so on) and some light design and photo/video manipulation ( Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). It still get most of my tasks done but it chugs a bit when I’m using Premiere and After Effects even though I’m not working on a large
