Lol, I've got the Abit vp6 (minus the I/O shield), I'm a bit jealous about the HDD though, I'm down to 2x20GB, and one of those is getting a bit questionable. Nice start for an old machine (better than mine, 256MB of RAM at first with a Pentium III 667 and a Jetway 994AN-L and only 2x sub 512MB HDD).

I've done some googling, and found these pages:
https://www.suse.com/yes/41003.htm

https://www.suse.com/yes/41444.htm

One of those computers (probably the second one since its IDE not SCSI) is the one you have, and they date back to 1998 by the looks of things.

It may be one of those, but it has gotten some upgrades since the CPU is a P3(the bios says so).

Update!

Well guys I have run into a bit if a problem.

One of the IDE ports on the MOBO is dead, and for some reason i can either use a disk drive or an HDD,but it will not allow me to use both at the same time. So i may not be able to use this system for the build.

I am trying to go through my old parts to find a working and reliable system to use instead.

Will post updates when i can.

I've had the same problem, is the disk drive or HDD working at all? Because if 1 is dead, they both won't work on the same cable. Also, are the master/slave jumpers set correctly, with the master drive at the end of the cable and the slave in the middle?

If i tried just the HDD or just the ODD when booting the bios would show the hooked up drive,i did check the jumpers and the HDD is set as cable select, and the ODD is set as master, when i try with both connected it says i have "None" connected IDE devices,i have tried checking the bios and i can't see anything that i could think of that would cause this.

Try setting the HDD to slave, older computers can be a bit finicky with the way components are set up, and make sure the ODD is plugged into the end of the cable as that's where the master is supposed to go.

I tried that 2,last night i spent hours on trying to fix it i feel asleep while browsing the bios,i think this build might be dead until i can get another motherboard, and with no extra money it may be a while.

So until i can fix it or get another motherboard it will be Postponed.

I think i will give the build a week, and come back with a fresh look, until then i decided to work on another build with with new old parts(still single core),it may even replace the P3 with it if the build goes good.

If you guys want i will post a link to that post here after i make the post.

Nope, but the stand off's are touching the back of the motherboard,so i am guessing that mabye something got shorted.
