Worst Tech mistake you have ever made?

Upgraded my Graphics Card... forgot to plug in the power to said Graphics Card. Luckily I remembered when I tried to turn it on but failed

 

Somehow plugged the CPU power in the wrong way when installing a new PSU in the media PC. Luckily it didnt turn on or break.... Unluckily (or really just me being a retard) it took me a while to realise this and thought it was the power button not working

rm = remove

option r = recursive (do the same to every file in every subdirectory of the requested directory)

option f = force (do not ask for authorisation to delete read-only files)

/ = the root directory

I WAS RIGHT!!!! But seriously, I did that to my slave drive with all of my music once because I thought it would remove temporary files.... This is why I have 3 computers with all of my music on it at any given moment...

Let's see.. Um, when I was putting my parts into my new case I forgot to plug in the CPU power (Which you can see in the picture I used in the Show off your computer thread.)

 

Oh yeah, several years ago I had this crappy Compaq Presario 2100 with an AMD (I still have it, it just doesn't have a screen) and I turned it on on top of my bed and looked away to do something else. When I looked back there was actually smoke pouring out of the thing. I managed to get it working for another month before it burned out and I stuck an Intel motherboard in there. (Still works.)

 

When I had my old system with a Geforce 7600GS (Which was overclocked) one time one of the little plastic pins holding the heatsink on popped out. I didn't know why I was getting such low FPS in games for a week until I opened HWMonitor and saw that it was going over 250f. (About 120c) One time on the same system after having the CPU in it overclocked for a while I started getting massive artifacts in games and I assumed it was the GPU overclock but after I ruled that out I was beginning to think that the GPU was burning out. Took me a while to find out that somehow my CPU overclock was the issue.

 

And of course, when I was younger I bent endless CPU pins. Usually if it wasn't too bad I'd be able to fix it.

Dude. I put my old Compaq ProSignia (top end model) on my bed for HOURS on end playing GTA 2, and the little fan doesn't turn on unless your pushing it or the battery is charging. It does get toasty as hell though.

I kinda of ripped the plastic bit for a 16x pci slot off my mobo, also bent a huge number of pins trying to put it back on. Oh well convinced me to upgrade and downsize to a maximus gene. But still a very expensive and annoying mistake.
