My core i7 2600. I couldn't know that at the time but it has been an incredibly good investment. My desktop is almost 4 years old and it still feels (and performs) like a new one thanks to that cpu.

Runners up would probably be my Logitech G9X or Samsung 840 Evo SSD


 


Going from membrane to mechanical and hard drive to SSD are the 2 single most 'wow' moments I've experienced.

Most expensive purchase either be GTX 690 or I7 980X.

 

Most appreciated would probably be my Seagate 4TB hdd. As odd as it sounds there is just something magical about downloading 80% of your Steam library onto a single drive and it asking if that is all you got. The other 20% is on the SSD as I am either fond of them or not fond of their load screens.

My third GTX 970 G1 Gaming (had 2 RMA'd). Ati mobility radeon 9000igp>quadro NVS 110M for 12 years, then a GTX 650ti OC 2GB, quickly followed by a GTX 970 puts things into perspective.

Love my GTX 680, mainly because its a kickass card, and even better when you get it for £50 brand new!!!!

the other would be my SSD, easily made the biggest performance difference next to my GPU.

Wouldnt build a machine without one now.

Most Appreciated: on-board audio + asus dgx. Not the best audio equipment but for its price, combo of this allow me to do best audio playback setup I've ever had with my PC speaker as the center of everything;
