I'm kind of disappointed... I was hoping for more storage and a higher resolution display like leaks said for the one m9 plus, it seems like all they did was put a better camera and slightly faster processor

I'm ok with 1080p screen...

but where did u see the rest of the spec?

Interested in how the VR thing will develop.

The M9 is the disappointment I feared it would be.  The two-tone metal finish may be a first, but the way the camera lens sticks out is way below their usual quality.  You'd expect something like that on an iPhone, not an HTC.

The new specs are nothing that an M8 owner will want to trade in his phone for either.

The wristband ... meh.  I'm not a fan of the whole fitness tracker nonsense.

Deep down I was hoping for a watch.  Oh well, perhaps next year.

I guess you are right they never really mentioned other specs, bestbuy put up the gray version at 649 for a few minutes, but who knows I hope they will mention it in the after show

To be noted, this is just a rumor, it may not happen...

but there are something other than the M9, Vive and Grip confirmed from this event. I'm now reading an article from Eprice, com.hk, saying the RE Camera 2nd Gen is confirmed to be coming this year...

I think it looks a little big, the fact that they are working with valve is cool, I guess we will see more at GDC. Personally I have the same opinion of this as every other VR device, there doesn't seem to be that much content, at least from what I have heard, and they are all still in development

If they are going to use a M8/M9 screen sign me up!

If they are going to be a worthy competitor for Ocolus, sign me up to!

If I can play with HL3 on it..... then I am going to discover "nerdgams" I guess

Source: http://www.valvetime.net/threads/valve-partners-with-htc-to-create-htc-vive-vr-headset.245766/

It's a day earlier than expected, but hardware manufacturer HTC have just announced the "HTC Vive", a virtual reality headset developed in a partnership between HTC and Valve. The headset is fully compatible with Valve's SteamVR program and features hand and motion tracking in a 15 feet by 15 feet space through the use of a "base station" and a pair of unannounced wireless controllers, likely including the yet be revealed final design of the Steam Controller.

HTC's video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTITJSSRUso

It has a 1200x1080, 90Hz display in front of each eye, integrated 3.5 mm headphone jack and with base stations set up in your room you can have a 15x15 feet walkable space to run around in and do your thing, while it also has a gyroscope, accelerometer, and laser position sensor to precisely track the rotation of your head on both axes to an accuracy of 1/10th of a degree, according to the HTC Vive website found here. This is different from devices such as the Oculus Rift, which has its own gyro on board to determine its position and rotation on a single spot. With this you can walk around in 3D space and do whatever you want with it. Basically a motion capture suit on your head with a display attached to it. And did I mention hand tracking? No? Well now I did. Yes, it will feature hand tracking for gestures. Imagine slaying Combine with a crowbar on-screen and suddenly you hit your cat because you were waving your arms around all over the place.

Availability is targeted to the holiday season of this very year, not in Valve time. A dev kit will come this spring, according to HTC.

Valve will announce it themselves at GDC which kicks off tomorrow. Actually, Valve has some more stuff up its sleeve. On March 5th, they're doing a presentation on glNext, OpenGL's successor, with live demo's. And what better way to give live demo's than to do it with a new engine/game like, for instance, Source 2 and/or HL3/L4D3/Portal 3?

This week promises to be a good week for Valve fans.

@LinusTech, @Slick , have some good WAN Show material. I'll post more Valve news that is certain to come this week when it breaks to the world.

If mods want to merge this thread with the others and add any information displayed here but not in other threads that'd be great.
