@LinusTech @Slick

I think those multiparts as seasons

your standard tv show season has X number of epsidosdes once a week

same thing here weather its a new topic or same one split

its aprox same number of minutes

And it builds suspense..

Ik from my experiences if i binge watch a season or a multipart thing

im in my head, "what the fck do i do next..."so...it gives me something to do in my down time

just my thoughts..

But when these videos are 1-3 weeks (or more, *cough* full room water cooling *cough*) apart from each other, it's pretty annoying.

Except the television episodes are nearly 30-60 minutes long most of the time.

Like, I totally get why they're doing it, I would just like it all at once because I'm impatient.

I wanna the the analytics on the attention span on those 10-15 minute plus videos.

IF @LinusTech Could show us, cause im sure most people prob skip.

I usually just wait for a multipart to be done then watch all 3 in a row.

It can be annoying but you really have to respect how much high-quality content they have to churn out.  Also they basically live on sponsors and youtube money, so more vids=more adsense

The Effort they put in..

and i think that was just an anomaly

I do get that a lot of effort is put in these videos, but from a viewers perspective; you kind of forget what the last episode was about after 2 weeks.

I'm fine with the multi-part episodes as I understand why it is they do it.

1. More videos getting thousands of views = more money brought in.

2. Splitting videos up like this making people wait for the next part will get more people to subscribe as they want to know exactly when it comes out.

3. Easier on the LMG editors, and also faster for them to get completed, they don't have the time or money to spend days working on a single video, its much more efficient to break it up into multiple parts that way they can work on other projects in the same day too.

I personally don't like it when videos just drag on and on, 20 minutes or so is about the sweet spot for video length to me (For most content), any more than that and you really start losing your viewers attention, and less than that tends to be considered a bit short for most things, though for other content such as the wan show or tech quickie, going beyond that 20 minute mark or below it is fitting.

Yes :) is the simple answer

No, i don't agree with you lol

If i had a choice between 1x15 min video about a topic as opposed to 3x 5 min videos that are a week apart my interest is lost. I mean, i still watch them i guess but ultimately i find that the episodes are often too far apart for me to have the previous one still fresh in my mind.

The times were just an example, fine.... i would rather 1x 30 min video than 3x10 min videos that are spread all over any given month. Having said that i understand why Linus does it the way he does, at the end of the day this is how he provides for his family and keeps his people employed, i respect that a lot.
