Finally some entertainment while working/fixing my hackintosh

Speaking of hackintosh, that would make an interesting/expensive episode @LinusTech

They did an ultimate hackintosh build guide a while ago.

Not as good as part 1. A lot happened in between the two episodes that couldve been included here.

Still pretty interesting though!!! Luke is gonna wreck with that r9-290 if everything goes well

Also, how sketchy was that guy selling parts out of the warehouse!

Did luke get e8400 with the R290 ? Back in the day i had 560ti with e4500 and that hold me back so much . Never got above 50% gpu usage cause of cpu bottleneck. Im sure Luke got too powerful gpu with that cpu.

Pretty sure he got the e8400. It'll definitely bottleneck on some games but I'm pretty sure he'll still beat Linus :)

When is part 3 D: I feel like multi part videos should be long. Like 20+ minutes. But Im sure there's a million good reasons you can't do that, so I sit on my hands and wait for part 3!

No more multi part vids plz

Linus has to pay all of his employees, $600 for the project, and a bunch of other fees that relate to LTT in general.....When it adds up it's a lot of money, if Linus made one video out of this he would be losing money.

Still 2 weeks from initial release :\

I couldn't do any better... But it still kinda sucks. Multi-part is fine. The time frame is brutal.

I think these vids are much better... its great comedy :)

How about a VidBox where the community sends unedited videos, and you choose 1 per week, edit, and upload? will be cool....

An e8400 and a 290?

I wonder if the bottleneck is real. Considering it bottlenecks on 6350's.

Eric S. Raymond used an E6600 from 2005 until 12/30/14 or open source software creation. Raw data computations in excess of 18GB each. Core 2 Duos still have tons of life left, my friend.

Oh yes.  But i'm betting it'll beat out q6600 + 7950.  Gaming on these core 2 era systems clock speed is more important than having 4 cores.

So if all parts are working its

Luke's Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD R9 290 , 4GB ram, antec 500W basiq psu

vs

Linus's Core 2 Quad Q6600, AMD Radeon 7950, 8GB ram, antec 500W earthwatt psu

Benchmarks Performance as follows

- 3D mark Firestrike

- Tombraider 2013

- Dirt 3

If that antec basiq 500W psu holds up,and the box of r9 290 has the needed 8pin - 6pin adaptor,

Luke's machine should have the upper hand in those benchmarks.

Absolutely. And, from what I recall, the single core performance on the E8400 was stronger. Lemme look up some benchmarks.
