Why do Am3+ motherboards stink

riixupvp

There's a limited selection of am3+ motherboard that have more than 3 stars on amazon/newegg, and I've owned 3, a gigabyte, asrock, and a MSI, gigabyte died when I put a diff graphics card in it, asrock started killing all my usb products, mouse, keyboard, phone even. and the MSI one just died. Why do am3+ motherboards have such a high failure rate.

AMD REALLY needs to update their sockets.

Specs are on my profile page

3-4 year old designs, of course they are going to have issues as they miss out on the latest advancements and fixes.

compared to what?

AMD boards require better than average power delivery for obvious reasons. I'm not talking about bottom of the barrel shit, 990FX minimum.

Not all of them are bad. It's just that most of them are. AsRock's AM3+ boards are only okay, MSI's aside from the 970 Gaming are absolute garbage.

The only AM3+ board I would buy is the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P. Possibly the MSI 970 Gaming if better looks is needed.

Compared to what it SHOULD be if AMD actually made a new lineup of processors. I'm pretty sure some of the FM series boards have better power delivery.

Really? That seems a bit back-to-front as the AM3 socket has cpus that consume a metric shitload of power.

Really? That seems a bit back-to-front as the AM3 socket has cpus that consume a metric shitload of power.

But the FM2+ boards for example, are newer, and the APUs have to have good power delivery (or at least I would think so) so that the GPU doesn't die in a hole.

The best thing about their GPUs is that it doubles as a furnace! xD

Try running a Diamond Savage 4 SIII at 1024x768 - that puts a new meaning to the word furnace (Win XP at idle causes them to lock up-800x600 doesn't), or an FX 5500-mine overheats if the resolution goes past 1024x768, though if I manage to buy a second one of my NB cooler that might be fixed.

Correct again.

Here's a little story time:

I had just got a new AMD GPU PC and, of course first thing I was installing drivers. So then I install everything and I still can't play audio. The problems I had were probably too complicated to explain it now. Basically, nothing worked. Then I found out it was a driver issue. After that I found out that AMD also has audio drivers a bloatware that comes with a GPU utility driver. I mean wtf, seriously! It was only after that, that I found uninstalling the official Realtek Sound Card driver effective. I am still shocked every time I remember those moments.
