IT'S STILL A 4GB CARD!!

Albeit with the last 500mbs being slower... But its still there.

Doesn't matter, nvidia still lied about ROPs and L2 cache and didn't disclose the fact they gimped .5GB of ram.

Ah damn. I got mine through best buy so I could get a reference. That's what I get for being sexually attracted to the reference cooler.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I'm going with my cousin to Microcenter to buy the MSI 970.
He's going for 1080p and that is plenty.

Really I think everyone is freaking out over nothing.
Really, before this became a thing everyone was content with their purchase.
Ignorance is bliss as they say.
Then people found out and oh no it's the end of the world.
I'm running 1440p on a 3 gig GTX 780 and I am as happy as can be.
I will upgrade before I start worrying about VRAM for my needs.

I understand why everyone is angry but I wonder if most of these people who are returning the cards even need the extra headspace?

I imagine a bunch of people playing Minecraft and Bejewled returning these cards because "we were lied to".  :P

TLDR. The card is still great and I still recommend this for 1080p builds.

Guys saying this doesnt matter, it does. I cant play titanfall on max settings because the game stutters in heavy gameplay from going past the 3.5gb vram thats not poop. Still love my 970 however :3

I agree. While I am using 2GB GTX 770 I can feel that Arma 3 wants more than that. With cranked up viewdistance I doubt even 4GB will be enough as you can crank it up for over 10km (though that will murder your CPU and GPU in general and you will need to go at least for 2/3 way SLI). It all comes down to what games you play. People will argue that you will never use more than 3.5GB... well, some will. And those who will are in the right to complain.

EDIT:

Arma 3 1080p Single Player and 3GB ov VRAM is prety much used all the time at the max settings with 3200m view distance

In MP it might go up to 3.5GB on 1080p and it will definitely go higher at 1440p.

NOTE: the map in this video is Stratis.. the smalles map in Arma 3.

Good guy Amazon. Doesn't fuck around with its customers, never ceases to amaze me with their quality of service..

The problem always lies with the product you order and third-party sellers.

Holy crap really? I didn't think it was that demanding.

What res are you pushing?

I own titanfall but it's been months since I've played it.

Can't remember if there was stutter while I was playing but I do remember having most things maxed.
