That's what I get for being sexually attracted to the reference cooler. muh specs Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0 ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat All parts black Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays Screens- 3 ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. Posted February 6, 2015 I'm going with my cousin to Microcenter to buy the MSI 970.He's going for 1080p and that is plenty. Really I think everyone is freaking out over nothing.Really, before this became a thing everyone was content with their purchase.Ignorance is bliss as they say.Then people found out and oh no it's the end of the world.I'm running 1440p on a 3 gig GTX 780 and I am as happy as can be.I will upgrade before I start worrying about VRAM for my needs. I understand why everyone is angry but I wonder if most of these people who are returning the cards even need the extra headspace? I imagine a bunch of people playing Minecraft and Bejewled returning these cards because "we were lied to". TLDR. Still love my 970 however :3 I agree. While I am using 2GB GTX 770 I can feel that Arma 3 wants more than that. With cranked up viewdistance I doubt even 4GB will be enough as you can crank it up for over 10km (though that will murder your CPU and GPU in general and you will need to go at least for 2/3 way SLI). It all comes down to what games you play. People will argue that you will never use more than 3.5GB... well, some will. And those who will are in the right to complain. EDIT: Arma 3 1080p Single Player and 3GB ov VRAM is prety much used all the time at the max settings with 3200m view distance In MP it might go up to 3.5GB on 1080p and it will definitely go higher at 1440p.
