Since the image clearly shows 8PACK i'll leave it up to you to see who needs this PSU.

This would come in handy for K|NGP|N and other 980 Classfied/K|NGP|N Classfied owners.

It's not useless, it's just not for you.

Yeah, 8Pack and KingPin are two of the world's best overclockers for GPUs, so i am not surprised. Kingpin used dual 1600W PSUs at the Maxwell launch event for the 980 world record

Yeah. Those guys would use something like this a lot. With 9 6+2 pin connectors you could plug three GTX 980 K|NGP|N Classfieds up to it. But those guys normally have two PSUs joined together though.

No you don't. Remember Xeons use Error-Correcting-Code to 100% ensure you send what you think you're sending back to memory and that you receive what you think you should receive from memory. If you make that failsafe unstable and then spend HOURS rendering a project, editing a long 4K move, or what have you, and you lost a critical bit, destroying the entire thing because you decided to overclock, how much would that ruin your week?

Anyone willing to pay the price for a Xeon but not use it for its intended professional purposes is nuts. You can get better clock rates from non-aeons to the extent you get better performance. Hah, maybe Intel should just set aside a few hot chips, unlock the multipliers, and call them the Itanium series for enthusiasts ;) You must order directly from Intel, otherwise they just get sold as lower-clocked Xeons.

Sure, now find me a case with either 2 fans at the back and 2 on top or 3 and 1 with room to actually fit the radiators and run the tubing...

You really do need a server PSU or 2 PSUs for a 2-system case.

If you really need that much power, just get two PSU's. You'll probably have a case that can accommodate it.

Haha true, but that's not as practical as just having one. :D

Use the extra space for the motor powering my cooling fan. Just is case Im sweaty and want a hurricane in my room. :D

Why are people complaining. If it is not for you dont buy it. But remember in two years time AMD gpus will use 500watts of power and quad gpu AMD systems will consume 2000 + watts. (probably the r9 590x)

So a 9590 + 32GB of ram and 2x 295x2 = 1400 watts plus everything else you put in the system should be around 1500 before overclocking so 1600 with overclocking.  Yup we found the psu for this system lol  :P

Lol, the one I chose was just over 1700W before overclocking. And removing 1 2.5" HDD allows almost any Full ATX case to fit the components. And I think its the only real PSU that would be useful in these extreme AMD builds.

I doubt it, if recent trends from all sides (AMD, Intel, Nvidia) are anything to go by then the reverse is true. AMD are the worst at power efficiency but even they are heading generally in that direction. Obviously hard to guess but if we are gazing into the tech crystal ball I'd guess the "R9 590x" would be closer to 350W than 500W. This 2000W PSU is more of a "because we can" and "I must have the best thing" than it something that actually makes sense.

That said, USB 3.1 and similar such things? Maybe we'll start needing more W out of our systems even as they become more efficient.

With a name like Arctic Islands for their 400 series GPUs, they better be heading for efficiency...dear god...
