To me the meaning of life is happiness. If you can't achieve any small measure of it, it isn't a life. But I also feel like we shouldn't understand it.

It's actually living. Doing stuff. Experiencing new things. Having fun. Being scared. Just all the things that add some excitement

But would that really be desirable? Isn't part of the value of life, that it's finite? 

If you have an unlimited number of days, then the individual days risk becoming meaningless, since you can always wait another day.

And since there is a finite number of things you can do, you will end up only having pure existence in the end.

Atleast this is why I don't want to live forever.

you need fuel,  so you find food and eat.

you need to recharge, so you sleep.

you need to expel waste, so you pee/poo

you are physically defenseless, so you need shelter

you are threatened by others with brain damage, so you fight

you get old and die, therefore you procreate to prevent extinction

 

modern human life:

you need fuel, so you binge

you need to recharge, but drink coffee instead

you need to expel waste, so you eat fiber

you ate too much fuel, so you need to exercise

you drank too much, so you need Advil

you look ugly, so you need surgery or makeup

You spent all day in a clean environment, so you need a shower

you need shelter, so you take a loan

you feel threatened by people with brain damage, so you buy a gun

you get old so you dye your hair and get a face lift

The world is overpopulated with people and starving so you procreate to fix the problem

you get offended by the appearance of someones front teeth so you sue them for emotional damages

Everybody can observe that when a person dies, he can’t take any of his belongings with him but still everyone is working hard to amass more and more wealth. He doesn’t mind even if he has to indulge in sinful activities in order to earn money. He thinks that he will remain alive permanently although he sees people around him are dying every day. This shows that the majority of people are foolish. Any intelligent person will think, “Since everyone is dying, I will also die. So why am I working so hard to amass so many assets when I can’t even take a farthing with me?” So what is the purpose of life – to work hard in order to earn money through any means and ultimately leave behind everything? No, this is not the purpose of life.

The point is to enjoy the time you have, which is easier with more stuff, generally speaking.

I would not like to live forever. I could imagine a life I'd like to live forever but it's neither one I can have nor one that I can get. If I had to live this life forever it would drive me completely insane.

 

"What's the meaning of life?" & "How do you look at life" or "What's the best we can do with what we have now that we're here?" are separate questions.

 

Life has no meaning. There is no reason for it, no purpose. It doesn't need to exist it just does, It doesn't need to be here, it just is, but it doesn't need to, it's just here, but there's absolutely no reason for it to be...it just is...etc.

The meaning of life is to get up every morning and work 8+ hours each day until you get old and the system has no use for you anymore. You've spent the majority of your life studying and working and you are now old and weak, without energy to do all the things you wanted to do when you were younger. You can only sit around and wait to die. Does that sound fun? I'm gonna take a wild guess of your opinion and go with: NO

But the sad thing is that most people spend their life's doing exactly that. If you ask me, that's not the meaning of life..
