Fuzzy's G3

No pics, but i swapped the original 120mm fan for one of my NZXT fnv2's. Now it's even quieter! :D

I took apart the Zip drive and installed the front io inside it, and shortened the unnecessarily long 5.25" cage to make it fit back in the system. Pics coming in a couple days. :)

Another question, I might be drilling out the bottom for another fan at some point. If i do, should i use a blue led fan, or just a standard one?

Also, does anyone know of a cheap, but decent low profile cpu cooler? Preferably under $25-30.

Does anyone know how to remove scratches and paint off of plastic without harming the plastic? The outside of the case is really scuffed with junk on it, especially on the one side.

Hey everyone! i have finally done it! i have modded and old Power Mac G3 case to fit a modern System! anyway, lets get started with the build log itself! :D

I gutted the system.

the case without guts.

attachicon.gif100_1215.JPG

Look at that dust!

attachicon.gif100_1216.JPG

attachicon.gif100_1223.JPG

all clean!

attachicon.gif100_1233.JPG

Fan bracket thingy

attachicon.gif100_1229.JPG

attachicon.gif100_1221.JPG

after gutting it, i took a while to ponder how i was going to add the motherboard standoffs, because the original ones were in non-standard positions. i ended up deciding to drill through the side panel and use a bolt and nuts.

original standoffs

attachicon.gif100_1235.JPG

my standoff :D

attachicon.gif100_1247.JPG

tray with my standoffs installed and electrical tape over old ones to prevent shorting.

attachicon.gif100_1251.JPG

cool shot of a standoff installed

attachicon.gif100_1254.JPG

Time for the system to come out of the old case!

attachicon.gif100_1257.JPG

Beautiful cable knot! :D

attachicon.gif100_1264.JPG

well, that's it for now, even though the system is done, i still have yet to take pics of it all installed and working.

Still not the fastest G3258. ;) Even on JTC.

Psh, I didn't know.

@ProKoN probably has us beat silly.

But your 4.6 voltage sucks ass, to be honest. I'm starting to think my Pentium is a little on the better side of the middle of the road.

It's the highest I've pushed it. Right now it's at a great spot for my temps and noise levels (fan on my Hyper 212 EVO barely spins up, is damn near silent under full load, and has only gone above 65C once when I was folding with it, my 7950, and my 480 all going.

Cute  B) jk lol thats a pretty solid overclock, I need to work on bringing down the voltage tbh. You have c-states disabled? and what exactly do you have going into your oc?

My evo is pretty much the same way, I've never seen it go above 70 even after a 7 hour aidai 64 test :D

Im still looking for a new gpu, used to have a 270x but my dad commandeered it for cad work

i want to do this to my old G4

Doing this soon with my old G5! There's a few on the forum right now

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

For the i/o shield, I cut it out of steel ducting that I happened to have laying around, and then I added the i/o shield that came with the mobo.

Edit: and plastidipped it ofc :D
