[Tutorial] How to make your 900 Series Video Card have a 0% fan mode!

Lays

It sounds like its outputting through a different interface when Windows loads, do you have 2 different cables plugged in? Tried toggling the source on  your monitor once booted?

It shouldn't be stuffed if it flashed succesfully and you can load the UEFI

I only have 1 monitor, and that monitor only has a single Dual-Link DVI input. ;_:

I have a EVGA gtx 780ti. I succeeded in reflashing my card however, MSI afterburner will not let the fan speed go below 29%. Is this just because it doesn't work on my card or is AB being retarded?

Is this possible on Kepler? (ie. GTX 780)

If it does work, you'll probably have to see if there's a kepler bios tweaker or something.

I doubt it works since this fanless thing is only just a new thing AFAIK.

Can you boot into safemode and still have picture to the monitor?

How do you boot into safe mode from the bios?

I believe you just hold down F8 while booting and it'll go into windows repair options then you choose that you want to boot into safe mode.

Wait, you tried doing all of this in windows 10?

All this stuff may not even work there, I have not tried it, nor has anyone I know tried it.

I have no idea, I haven't tried it.

See if there's a "kepler bios tweaker" first.

yeah i really dont think its your card, as much as it is your windows. I guess you dont have another computer to test your card in?

You might need to create a startup repair usb key.

I actually had the same thing happen the other day to my computer, and was one of my hdd's failing that was stopping Windows from starting

Did you enable "auto" fan mode, and user defined mode as well?

it say 0% but the fan still spinning

@Lays

Click the little button that's the settings thing on the opposite side of the "auto" button.

It's next to your fan slider, on the left.

Also make sure your fan curve looks like this:

Hmm, and you said you enabled user defined control with auto mode enabled?

It's possible your card could have some sort of hardware limiter, or that you may need to use a newer version of maxwell bios tweaker or NV flash.

I'll see if I can find a newer version of it for you when I wake up

ive tried the newest version of nvflash same problem, v5.206.0.1. i believe the fans simply cant go to 0% hardware limitation.

Yeah there's probably a hardware limiter built in that doesn't let the fans go below 25% regardless of what the BIOS tells it to, or something along those lines.

If you used something other than win 10 it may work, or you could try doing what that other guy mentioned about flashing in DOS.

If the card is working and showing you the BIOS, it's most likely windows or a driver that is messed up, and not the card.  (it could be the card too, but the fact that it's working at all is a good sign)

Will this work on a 750Ti? i know it not a 900 series but it is maxwell based,

thanks in advance

Not this specific BIOS, no but if you were to upload your BIOS and say send it to @Gofspar or @Lays I am sure one of them could do it for you :)

K, since I'm installing windows 8.1 right now, I'll see if that works out. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to flash in DOS.
