I would use this largely to brag, to be honest. I've got one rig with a 2500k and another with a 4770k, so I've little actual use for it. I'd probably build a new X99 rig and sell off/donate my 2500k rig to family.

I would go and find an compatible motherboard, try to fit it in my case and try to fit all the other accessories, since my CPU and motherboard are the only bottlenecks I have atm.

My system is kinda old, I am currently running a Core 2 Quad Q8300 and it has started to give me signs that it won't be alive for much longer. WIndows is asking me to disable Aero because it is too much for my sweet processor to handle.

I would love to get some 6 Core Madness for my video rendering, gaming and of course - overclocking! :D

Of course, it is completly normal to have a GPU at 90°c all the time <_<

Honestly I'd probably sell it and get a new GPU. Not ready to upgrade my whole system yet, and ddr4 is still expensive as hell. 

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I would go through and  build my new rig while  giving my wife the old gaming rig.  She really needs a system to do her wrighting on and game on as well. I could use the extra  horse power to

stream and video edit.

Would absolutely love the i7 5820k, i have been saving for nearly 2 years now to build a new PC coming from console (and mac ugghh), my plans for this PC are streaming and regular video editing plus a little 3D work as i am now creating a game and our budget for the systems is small and so is our team, this PC will also be in memory of my pop who died mid 2012, he was really into computers and i regret not spending as much time with him as i should have and also not really knowing how much he was into computers. No hate guys this is not a suck up attempt even the competition description says that your comment will not affect who wins. Good Luck to all :)

Ever since I was a little boy I have always wanted to cure diseases but I never had the computational power to do so. With my lowly Pentium III I'd be lucky to cure diarrhea. Pls linus giff me 5820k

My little sister wants a computer (she never had anything but a laptop so far) - getting this CPU would be "terrible" since I would be "forced to upgrade" my Windows pc, meaning I could give her an awesome late christmas present :)

Personally the additional 2 cores would help keeping my CPU from hitting the roof when gaming/development + streaming. While my current setup is working fine, I am an aesthetics freak.. I hate noise.. a lot.

 

In any case this would be a great late christmas present for the winner!

What i would do with a i7 5820k? first of all overclock it. then i would try to multitask as much programs at the same time as possible. rendering,gaming,browsing,unpackingstuff,installingstuff. and probably cry out of joy

5820k? id buy a mobo, cry about ddr4 prices, cave and buy some and use it to play games and do engineering stuff
