I would probably sell it. Not sure I could afford an x99 board and DDR4 ram.

 

Edit: I'd likely buy a gtx970 or maybe even a 980 with the money I made.

Gee! Such a nice giveaway! :)
Since I just started doing my first steps with YouTube from the creative side, I would definitely make a good gaming PC in order to play more demanding games and render the movies, edit them etc more quickly.

Well, I have not got a good CPU to say the least i have a freaking intel core 2 duo....... that is reason enough lol

With a 5820k I'd be able to Have more shit open an running at the same time ;). Because you can never have enough windows open.

I think I'd finally upgrade away from my beginning to age 3820, get an x99 board, and refresh my whole rig. It's a lot easier explaining to the wife why i HAVE to upgrade parts with a new chip I got for free than just trying to explain to her that I want to upgrade just "because." lol

I'd use that CPU for audio stuff. I use a bunch of virtual instruments sound libraries, audio plugins and stuff like that, and more horsepower is always better (less latency for real time processing). Here's a little something I did for my university (not mixed yet!):

What would I use the 5820K for?  The glory of Satan, of course.  In all seriousness, Maya and After Effects would be happy to be friends with such a glorious CPU.

If I were to win the 5820k.... I am gonna use it for higher end video editing and let's playing at a resolution higher than 576p. 

 

I currently own a laptop with a i5-480m CPU and a GT-310m GPU. Sure it gets the job done, but its ssslllloooowww at rendering 720p files in premiere (not even After Effects) and can't handle much games (especially when recording) or big photoshop files well. Worse of all, my laptop has overheating throttling issues. So while I might be able to record 576p footage, I can only do so for 15 minutes before my CPU throttles to a lovely 1.4Ghz and frames drop everywhere. Boo.
