So I had some quick questions, I have my PC for gaming and Macbook for everything else. I was just wondering opinions on:

  1. Should I be using an antivirus / malware on my mac?
  2. Does the OSX file system require defragging?
  3. In your opinion Should I keep OSX? or should I install windows 8/10 or linux.

Cheers  :D

1. Not a bad idea.

2. I don't believe so.

3. Well you can dual boot with Windows/Linux if you wish, but OS X isn't a bad OS IMHO.

1. probably don't need one since viruses don't tend to target mac, but if it make you feel safer/ you like clicking on shady links then yeah go for it

2. Technically yes, but nothing that you need to do, OSX auto-defrags for you so you never need to worry about it

3. Up to you, if you are happy with OSX then leave it, if you really want windows go for that, or if you want you can partition the disk and have a ability to boot into either one of the two OS's.

1.yes as OSX is coming under more attack, and you should always have antivirus. (I see way too many people neglect antivirus because they 'think they don't need it', but it always backfires.)

2.No, just like linux

3.OSX itself is a good OS, but if you want to play games Windows is the better choice, and OSX is based on unix just like linux (aka, it works on everything with few changes needed) so either way its pretty much the same.

1. Yes, or just use adblockers and don't surf unsafe sites all computers are vulnerable these days, just because it can't run a Windows app does not mean a MacOS specific malware won't get on, they exist even if not as many (yet).

2. Yes, but you don't need to do anything, on reboot like all Linux/Unix systems the system will check how many days since the last fsck was run and do it for you on boot up, you will never see it as Mac hides everything from you so its a yes with a end result of no.

3. Egh, tomato  vs ketchup or catsup but for sanity sake why spend money buying two different platforms of software (assuming you actually buy your software) when you can buy one and well use it on both machines? Then again, if you are into being more diverse in your computing ways another platform is not a bad thing, Linux you can always do on a VM on either hardware.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

Ehh...

-Get an AV, just in case.  Also be safe on the 'net either way.

-Dunno

-No sense trashing something you already have.  If you're thinking of Windows, go ahead and get Windows or a Linux distro of your choice on a USB and install it on another HDD/partition and give it a whirl.

Yes. It doesn't hurt getting a free one. Antivirus software are made for a reason.

No. The OS takes care of that for you. (http://macs.about.com/od/faq1/f/defrag.htm)

I would keep. I would Bootcamp only when absolutely necessary (Bootcamp is not particularly great). I would be more likely to dual boot Linux than Windows.

Here's a guide: http://lifehacker.com/5934942/how-to-dual-boot-linux-on-your-mac-and-take-back-your-powerhouse-apple-hardware

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.
