It might be that they will launch the chimps on pro cards and later on will bring them to gamer cards.

A bit meh but if they are as good as we expect them to be it will be worth it.

AMD just stop being so childish with this game 24 thing. If you don't release a card that out performs a titan Z for $300, then you're going to be laughed at. You've hyped yourself up too much to possibly live up to it.

Nobody sane expects amd to outperform a titan z for 300$... they only expect them to outperform a 970 for that price.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

UPDATE: It will be graphics cards, they are going to announce flagship cards (= set benchmarks) and the reveal will be in India tomorrow!

well that tweet makes it sound like they are just launching in India a product which is globally available. Which would actually be a hilarious anti-climax.

Has AMD India ever done a new Radeon line reveal before? I would of imagined an announcement like that would be made at a more popular location/event to maximize exposure?

Intel i7 6700k @ 4.8ghz, NZXT Kraken X61, ASUS Z170 Maximus VIII Hero, (2x8GB) Kingston DDR4 2400, 2x Sapphire Nitro Fury OC+, Thermaltake 1050W

More like that's a hell of a lot of heat and power draw...

Maybe not. We don't know what trickery AMD would use to Reduce power consumption.

They already migrated the 290 line into their Professional line this year at some announcement ... too soon.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

8.228 Teraflops of single percison compute!?

That's a lot of number crunching.....

How the Hell did you calculate 8.228 TFlops?

SPs x speed x 2

In fact, isn't it that 8.448 TFLOPS?

SPs x speed x 2

why x2? That's my point of confusion. You can't run 2 ipc. The max instructions per cycle is 1.

Ask AMD. They're the ones who gave the formula. What's Nvidia's formula? I'll look it up after posting this, but finding the formula is a bit tricky on Google.

EDIT: Nvidia uses x2 as well. I just calculated it.

GTX 980 = ~5 teraflops.

2.048*10^3 cuda cores x 1.126*10^9 cycles/second base = 2.306048*10^12 FLOPs ~2.31 TFlops before finding the multiplier.

http://optimisationcpugpu-hpc.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-to-calculate-flops-of-gpu.html <-- This contains the correct formula apparently.

5*10^12 = (2048cores) * (1.126*10^9cycles/second) * (1 SIMD/Core) * ((no. of mul-add units per core)=1*2 + no. of add units per core=1) = 6.918 TFlops theoretical, and because we all know there's a limit to how well the GPU can actually be fed, that's an amortized loss of about 25-30%

For such a milestone in AMD's cards evolution, the whole event is ill advertised and inapropriate. Compare it to NVIDIA's own Game24 and you will understand what i mean.

There arent even enough references on the web or dedicated threads on the well-known PC sites.

I wonder whats the deal with it.
