Mod24 PCMASTERRACE Gripe.

Okay so I know I'm going to get some hate for this but here goes.

 

Am I the only one who think it's kind of stupid that two of the mod24 teams are doing a theme, for a PC gaming celebration, based on 2 games that are console games ported to PC? Not to mention that CoD is CoD (#BATTLEFIELDMASTERRACE). I mean yeah, the work they're doing is nice (I guess). I just feel like they didn't really try to come up with something special or unique.

 

Maybe I just feel like I could do better given an unlimited budget, but then again 24 hours is a short period of time, but still, I feel like they could have done so much better. Not just "oh were gonna paint the case really nice and glue shit to it and slap a water cooling loop in it (the CoD rig)" and I expected a lot better from the open air case. I dunno, maybe I'm just a hater and I'm just jelly that I can't be in that competition.

 

Thoughts? Remember this is all just aesthetics, but I just feel like a black ops theme and a titanfall theme are just.... phoning it in.

Nah, I don't mind. Its all about gaming. Consoles and their games are still a HUGE part of the gaming community. Where would PC gaming be if not for consoles existing?

I honestly think most of this "game theme" is impractical and unnecessary. I'd rather have just a plain silence-optimized case with extremely clean looks outside and inside. No gauges, no delcals, no pictures...

 

Although I like what those guys are doing there, can't wait to see what will it look like when they're finished.

Fixed.

NO, NOT AT ALL. That engine just sucks, DAYZ would be 1000000000000000 times better if it was based on ANY OTHER ENGINE, hell the CoD engine would be better, and that engine is basically trash.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Well, theres only so much you can do to a computer...Although, I'd love to see an exploded - build--but I think that would be WAY to hard to accomplish in a 24 hour period.

To be honest, I'd have liked to see someone attempt a glass tubing loop (something I will do one day, I don't care how much I have to pay someone to do it for me lol). I dunno, I just feel like 2 builds just phoned it in, and I don't even get what the other team is doing right now.

Sure if you like the worst movement and inventory system ever devised by man. I tried arma, absolutely terrible.

 

So. What would everyone have liked to have seen? I know if I win the CoD rig or the Titanfall rig I'll be rippin those components out and sticken em in my air 540 lol. I still don't know what the other team is doing so can't comment on them.

What recent popular games are NOT ported from consoles?

Granted, but they could have done an mmo, they could have done a star citizen theme or an EVE theme, SWTOR, there are plenty of PC only games.

 

No clue what you're talking about because I'm not watching the stream.

Basically, 2 of the cases are

Black ops theme, painted the case to look like....something, and stuck black ops on it.

Titanfall theme, Open air case, water cooling system, some fancy looking custom cut metal badges in the shapes of guns, and a titan glued here and there.

third case: Old ass case made new is about all I can tell

 

 

remember, they have only 24 hours, doing a scratch build is impossible in this short time, and don't forget, they need to share tools,

They had to share tools? That's retarded. Also one of those teams did a wall build with a SICK looking water cooling loops in about 24 hours. I just think they could have done better.

Eh maybe, but I disagree on the titanfall open air case. I think it looks amazing, even if it's titanfall.

These guys aren't huge Linux only mud playing pc gamer neckbeards, they're dudes who work with their hands or are artsy, who happen to like video games.

Edit: I think your expectations are too high, especially in a 24 hour competition.

I'm not disrespecting them, I just feel like they would have done something a bit more original. Just badass looking PC's instead of theme pc's. Make a ridiculous looking cooling loop that cools everything, even the HDD and SSD, etc. Awesome hidden lighting or a case that just makes you go "whaaaaaaa?" or something. I just feel like doing themes of COD and titanfall aren't really that impressive. Although they do look good, I just expected way more.

Meh, planning takes months. I think that if you plan it and have the tools and materials you could condense it into a short period of time.

im pretty sure they already have plan before today, but plan always change when you start build
