While better turf effects and upgraded physx is nice whats the point? No one uses the software because of how closed off it is and with all the next gen consoles running on amd hardware there is no point. sorry, i havent heard of game developer creating games for both consoles making a pc port with software that only caters to a certain market. were lucky nowadays if we get decent pc port.  I personally love Nvidia but there software is going to go nowhere unless they open it up.

Depending on how well it overclocks, I might replace my dud 7950 with a 970.

I know for sure that I am replacing my 570 with a 980 :D

It's not surprising, if the thing matched the performance of the 290 it will be competitive. I paid that same amount for my 770 when it launched. The fact that it is almost $200 more than it is in the US annoys me a bit regardless.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.

OC3D videos annoy me. He is so long-winded and spends so much time talking about nothing. I had to unsub him because I don't have the attention span for that shit.

Complain to your government and demand a change!

Also, on the bright side, its still probably cheaper than China.

/Are computer components stupidly expensive in China--I know pretty much everything else is.

supply and demand... china has a bigger population than US, Canada, Australia, Britain, Europe, Russia etc. combined.

I really want to know the CUDA performance in rendering because if it performs worse I will buy a 780Ti or Titan instead.

Might as well buy that Titan then, if GM204 is anything like GK104 (dw I still love you 680), compute performance is going to suffer.

But welp, wish I didn't blow my 700 bucks on a 780Ti...my only solace really is that the 780Ti and the 980 basically perform the same.  At least if that is the correct assumption I should make from the few benchmarks that are out.

China also has ridiculous import taxes forcing prices to be doubled to tripled that of US prices.

According to a crummy google search..

American Pricing.

$549USA $612AUS.

Australian Pricing.

$718USA $799AUS.

So by the looks of it, we're paying a whole $100 more.

What would if cost to ship it, like, $40 bucks?

Yeah, I think I know what avenue I'm taking...

This week Nvidia launch their new GTX970 and GTX980 GPU’s – based on the exceptionally efficient Maxwell architecture. In this review we look at a modified, overclocked solution from partner MSI – the GTX970 Gaming 4G. Not only does this card ship with a tasty overclock, but it is one of the prettiest graphics cards we have ever seen.

I think GTX970 is better than the GTX980 in a price to performance standpoint. Keep in mind that this is priced at £274.99 inc vat based on the reviewer and the reference is priced at £259.99 inc vat based on the UK. Not to mention that the power consumption is very low.

Pricing here is absolutly redicilious!
$800 for this is a joke, you just know Pc Case Gear, Scorptech and all of that are just following each others lead and setting them at the same rubbish price.

That is wayyy too close to a 780Ti for me to believe that is accurate. The huge difference vs the 290 then the minor difference from the 780Ti seems too good to be true.

Was extremely keen on building a new PC with a GTX 980 but that price is ridiculous in comparison to US. Guess I'm also going to have to look overseas for one as-well. :/

Their are not the only one just checked about 5 different reviews and they all show around the same results especially the overclocked ones.

And the card is only freaking $329!!

Is this card really trading blows with the 290x and soundly beating the 290? At this price point?

I really can't wait to see how AMD responds. *grabs popcorn*

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).
