Linux is brilliant but I personally use Windows 7 Professional and I would choose it since I have used Windows from as long as I can remember so I am very much used to it especially gaming wise. Second choice is Linux, in my opinion it is the beefest OS and provides better customization and is can be configured to suit any need and is very light as well. I have used Mac OSX once and I did not enjoy it and it just seemed way to off for me. Fine for the iPods and what not but I would personally never use it on a desktop/laptop for either productivity or general use.

I have used all 3 and are all good for somethings so I will not vote in this poll

I have used windows as my main os as far back as I can remember and that would be starting at windows 3.1 all the way to windows 8. I think i'm just bias for it as gaming was not something that the other platforms were really supported in

I think i have only ever used 2 computers at my college that were not mac but then i was in the art program so that was far more mac bias in teaching. I know more mac shortcuts for adobe software then I know windows shortcuts and I have not owned anything running a mac os since 1995 or so maybe as late as 96.

I have ran a few game servers at home and paid for off linux and a torrent machine in the past and prefer to run servers off linux

Windows no matter what.

I tried Linux for a few hours, don't have much experience of it except of what I read/heard about it.

And I worked and troubleshooted enough Mac's(mainly windows but there was mac too) while I was working as a secret agent(Customer Service Agent for some company) to find out how a mac works... but I still prefer windows, even though now I can't say that Mac is anywhere near complicated but it's not as user intuitive for someone who uses windows since windows 95 xD.

Windows obviously, because I'm a gamer. Windows supports all games.

People who think Mac OS X is just shinny and made for DAUs, clearly have no real knowledge about the OS (I am not saying, that they've never used it though).

Perfect OS would be a mixture out of OS X 10.8 and Windows 8.

Try Linux! I'd recommend Gnome as the UI, Ubuntu Gnome is great IMO ^^

There is no such thing as best OS.

The one which fits your needs is the best.

I mean, from a gamers perspective it is Windows ofc

But for a video/photo/whatever editor it might be (i know these days a windows PC can do this as good as a mac, but a lot of people from this business are still used to Macs) a Mac.

And for people who want an open soruce and extremely customizable OS Linux is probably the best choice.

I would sell it on because it's worth so much more than what I would put a price on it... But I'm sure you're right about me not being used to OSX, I have grown up with Windows, but perhaps that's a good enough reason not to use OSX because I'm not used to it. O.o why change when it costs more.

To be fair, Mac OS X is cheaper than Windows.

$20 for the OS 10.8.

Well you can always run a Hackintosh. With OS + 120GB SSD, you'd be at $120. Windows 8 + SSD = about $200-$240 if you get regular or Pro OS.

anything to do with production, I think I now prefer Mac.

Windows is good for a bit of everything, but because I'm being surrounded my Mac computers, I'm just starting to like them more and more.

At the end of the day use what you have used previously and what you are more comfortable with.

none of both, Windows Vista converted me to Linux

Was this before or after Service Pack 1

Windows = search for an hour for the piece of software to do a job.

At least there is software to do the job.
