So based on the first 16 results, the majority of people who are competent with tech (ie this forum) has stuck with windows 7 and ignored windows 8 (not that those with Win8 are incompetent, just an observation).

My main rig has both windows 7 and Fedora 18, my laptop I use Fedora 18 exclusively - but I'm considering changing my laptop's installation to an Arch one. I'm also gonna look into ArchBang and CrunchBang...I haven't heard of these distros but they keep popping up around here

Windows 7 on both Desktop and laptop, eventual plan to switch both to Archlinux, or at least dualboot Windows 7 and Arch on desktop to satisfy any gaming needs. Most games work well on Linux anyway (through Steam or Playonlinux).

Was rather hesitant to use Windows 8 at first but once I tried the final retail version outside a VM I ended up actually liking it and thus sticking with it (got it real cheap also, ~$20-ish back when they had a discount for early upgraders from Win7)

Gentoo on desktop, laptop, media pc, VM host and 2 VMs.

Freebsd on file server

Desktop can also boot Windows 8 for gaming but I don't play games that often any more. Might be my last Windows.
