Console vs PC (not a debate)

Not every game is on PC.

 

Not every game emulates well.

 

Not everyone cares about getting a game so demanding that it'd make a couple of Titans struggle at 4k.

 

Steam green lights a lot of crappy games that GabeN should have never allowed.

 

Some people like the split screen gaming on the couch experience with friends.

 

Some people would rather save Hyrule than wet their pants over the frame rate counter.

 

Pokemon where you actually trade and battle with real people.

 

Many simply couldn't care less about hunting parts down to build a budget rig for the same price as the most expensive console. - They just want to game.

 

Not every console gamer is a fanboy, many also have a PC.

 

 

And dozens of other reasons that are trivial.

 

 

 

 

People play video games to escape and be immersed in another world, not belittle other gamers for simply gaming on another platform (Sega vs Nintendo type rivalry stuff is a given, but this is flat out shitting on someone for playing another platform, like a pro basketball player taunting a kid and shoving their face into the ground levels of bad).

 

If a game is multiplat, of course the PC version will the superior version due to more power utilized and the ability to mod. (barring crap like Uplay which ruined Rayman Legends). If you're a gamer, you care for the video games and not the platform the game is on. If you're legitimately passionate about gaming, you play games you want to play and nothing else. Many members of LTT play on both console and PC, shocker I know. Yes, we can joke about PS4 and XB1 already struggling, but one can also joke that the platform with the most power sure has a lot of pandering done with "retro style" that looks like it could have been playable on SNES hardware. In the end, it's the video games that matter, man. I've seen so much dumping on console players on this forum that you're not PC Master Race, you are PCfag. Let people enjoy their games while your enjoy yours. Console gamers aren't off the hook, many can also be unbearable, but I'm focusing on this forum since it's the only one I actively visit these days.

 

If this devolves into a flame war, you're only proving my point by shitposting "but muh FPS" "But muh refresh rates!"

I too think it isn't a debate. It shouldn't be anyway.

 

I like the PC, it's my favourite platform by far, and it's where I do most of my gaming. However I also had tons of fun with littlebigplanet on playstation 3 a few years back and even GTA V up until recently, I spent literally endless hours playing those games with friends, and I think it was worth it.

My objection to console comes from the fact that their existence and supporting fan base have begun negatively affecting those of us who are awake and spend our money on hardware that is actually a good value for it's money.

 

1. Our games are being nerfed so as to make console look like it's keeping up when it's not (in any way)

2. Thing liks GTA V, Dev'ed on a pc, for xbox one and ps4 (And whatever other shitbox it's on) but takes FOREVER to come out for PC, why? not because "oh well we have a bunch of work to do", because sony and microsoft likely paid to delay the PC launch to support their own sales.

 

There are no advantages to console, none, zip zero nada. Yes they have exclusives, but only because they had to pay for it to save their own asses. By buying a console you are supporting whatever the opposite of innovation is, bad business practices, and filthy deceit. Nothing more.

It isn't, console is pointless unless you feel like spending 400+ of your own money to play one or two exclusive games, which would look better on pc anyways.

The issue we have isn't with what they want, it's with the fact that what they want has begun negatively affecting us, to protect the sales margins of shitty corporations selling shitty overmarketed deceitful products.

The ONLY reason to buy a console is for the handful of exclusives games that exist on them, if all of those games were on PC, then there is no reason to buy a console

 

And since they DO exist, all they do is mean badly made ports, or games that do not push PC because they have to keep in mind that a game has to run on a console too

 

Consoles should die, NOW, A manufacturer can easily create a more curated experience, like the Alienware Alpha with its controller driven UI and its pre-built for you nature -

 

PCs can run split screen, they can run all your games (if there were no exclusives) they scale to different budgets, they are upgradable, moddable, etc etc

Some people like the split screen gaming on the couch experience with friends, witch can definitly be achieved on pc WITH controllers, for example new (indie, that CONSOES cant even have) INDIE game coming soon with splitscreen .called Volo Airsport.

 

Some people would rather pay too much for games that make you a headache from not fluid animation from bad framerate.

PS: This is coming from someone who only games on PC who hasn't had a console in years, but is more hyped for the upcoming Wii U titles vs what Steam has to offer.

 

@Trik'Stari the thing is, I wouldn't exactly call those types of games to be exclusive, if anything those are timed exclusives and not proper ones. That's more the devs like Rockstar milking people for money than it is someone playing on console. For the multiplats, PC version will always look better. For games made strictly for PC, proper optimizations can be done. This isn't about advantage or dis advantage, it's about the actual game libraries and people have differing tastes. Someone might like playing BF4 with some mad hardware and someone else might rather sit on the couch and play Mario Kart with their friends or BF/GF.

Oh that too! Editing videos, documents, storage and backup, millions of programs

 

Now the annoying thing is...99% of people with a console also own a PC, instead of buying a £300/400 laptop or desktop and a £300/400 ps4, they could have spend £700 on a PC that does it all!

 

Or, if you already had a modern desktop, just buy a GPU and shove it inside, instant gaming pc for less than the price of a PS4

 

Lets not forget the new consoles are not backwards compatible, so I have to own a PS4, PS3, and PS2, Xbox ONE, Xbox 360 and Xbox in order to play all of the games that are out! .... 6 consoles!!!! just to play a  game from a few years ago

 

Or on PC I can just go buy a game from 1990 and play it with no issues......

 

PCs can use any peripheral, keyboards, mice, headsets, wheels, flight sticks, etc etc or you can stick it on your TV with a controller and play like a console

 

Its versatile, scalable and personal....the console is just a way of forcing you to give your money to sony or microsoft

 

And also, why should bad games not be on Steam? I should be able to buy ALL pc games on there, good, bad or not, (as long as they are not scams)

Again, the issue is that they are handicapping PC to keep their own sales up. Not what console gamers like to do. Albeit what they like to do is affecting us negatively.

 

Look what Ubisoft did to watch dogs, they turned off and hid a bunch of options, then when they got called out for it they made up a bullshit excuse, and released a "patch" to prevent people from making the game look as good as it could be, and now they are doing the same to more of their games.

 

I'm all fine with people liking what they like, but when what you like has to make my experience worse so that it can make a few extra sales, we have a huge fucking problem.
