Zotac have announced a new Pico PC, much smaller than the intel NUCs, this can fit in your jeans back pcoket!
 
"The ZBOX PI320 pico includes Intel's quad-core Atom Z3735F processor (1.33 GHz, 1.83 GHz), Intel HD graphics, 2 GB of DDR3L memory and 32 GB of internal storage. There's also a microSD card reader for adding an additional 128 GB of storage, which is ideal given that the usable space on the 32 GB model is roughly a mere 12 GB and around 48 GB for the 64 GB model.
The new mini-PC includes a 10/100 Ethernet port, Wireless N and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, three USB 2.0 ports and a 3.5 mm audio/microphone combo jack. Windows 8.1 with Bing is pre-installed, meaning the pico device is ready to go right out of the box, as opposed to some SFF PCs that ship without an OS"
 
This thing is really cool, no pricing yet

 

There was a similar open-source box on kickstarter a while ago.  Same deal.

Intel's Broadwell and Skylake NUCs with Iris 6200 are going to be a great alternative to a full-size HTPC. Hell that has enough computational power onboard I could replace my workstation with one if it had ECC memory.

 

Yeah should be really good, even the current Iris Pro graphics are pretty killer

 

I hope intels next iGPU is even better!

Very cool. Love the idea of having a PC in your pocket.. Oh wait, we already have that - it's called a smartphone. :P

 

But seriously, this is really cool. Always been interested in the concept of very small form factor PCs. Needs a little more grunt and memory, IMO, but good enough for basic use and media playback/streaming etc.

This seems like something that'd really benefit from Broadwell.

 

Imagine a Core M chip in it rather than an Atom. Much better

Hd3000/4000 were sort of pathetic but Haswell Iris pro is actually a good chip not too far behind the a8 7600. broadwell with 40% improvement over that should put it in the same range as the 7700k/7850k. Actually could pull ahead considering it isn't bottlenecked by ddr3.

Will you can't compare the high end intel igpu with the a8 7600 you must compare it with the a10 7850k gpu.

It's pretty awesome, I don't have any slowdowns with the chips and plays the games a like with no problems. and pulls like 200watts max when overclocked.

100mbps is not bad at all. That's about the top end for most homes to the outside world.

 

Oh no doubt, I was referring to a private network where even wireless N is quite a bit faster. I would be so happy to have 100mbps to the outside world; I'm stuck with 7mbps down/basically nothing up.

 

To go along with you saying  that 100mbps is not bad at all, most HDDs barely top that anyway. Unless someone has a crazy raid 5 HDD NAS or something, faster networking looks pretty useless above 100mbps. Point taken.

Not really, you'd be surprised how demanding crysis still is when it's on max settings.

You're crazy. For gaming they're meh, but Intel designed them for only basic graphics functionality but high compute power. Iris 5200 has more compute power than the 7850k, and Iris you can overclock to 3GHz (the GPU cores) if you really know what you're doing. Broadwell's top SKU boasts a whopping 2TFlop solution at stock 1.3GHz. AMD's 7850k tops out at 800GFlops. Even in GPGPU compute Intel has already caught up and surpassed AMD in integration. And, if you think Intel has been sitting on its ass on geometry budget, it hasn't. Skylake will make even Carrizo look bad if Intel delivers on its promises.

What are you talking about?, they are pretty decent these days

That's pretty cool. Too bad most flash card memory isn't the greatest, could make for an interesting system.

 

I think it'd fail due to the lack of storage.

It has USB ports, plus this day in age most routers allow for network attached storage as well. So you can always pull media from an external source.
