Hennessey has announced it's new production car, which it is called the Hennessey Venom F5. There target is to make the car have a top speed of 290MPH , they also said that it can possibly have 1,400bhp, (Which is more bhp than the Koenigsegg One:1 ._.) . They said that the car will weigh under 1,300kg, which means that it'll have 1,000bhp per tonne. The Venom F5 will be available to customers in the year 2016 , costing over $1,200,000 .

Tell me what your opinions are , about this car. (That Rhymed)

Nice to see that they went with their own design this time. Instead of the lotus body.

hennessey make cars like id make cars and NRE makes engines like i'd make engines....stupidly overpowered with the intention of killing yourself.

I love it! though you could certainly get more than 1400hp, thats probably limited by cooling and emissions, plenty of cars on drag week have 2500+hp but i guess 1400 is impressive to people who like supras and GTR's.
imagine what it would be like with a real engine like 50% more cylinders and 3x the valves..

boost is boost, doesnt matter if its from turbo's or blowers, the veyron is technically the same as some golf vr6's and passats and the bently continental gt, the difference is the con rods had to be slimmed down to 13mm instead of 15mm as they would be in most cars which limits thier strength hence the veyron is more like a truck, weights a butt ton and has a low revving torquey engine, yes its smooth but the thing is huggee and weights as much as a range rover.

Turbo chargers have an innate lag and give less overall boost than a supercharger, which has no lag. That's why top fuel dragsters use superchargers instead of turbo. I still think the veyron looks better though, reminds me of a streamliner train or something. Just looks good going down the road, whereas the hennesey and others look like electric razors

Ahem... can you please remove hypercar from the tags. It's a supercar at most. Hypercars are extremely advanced engeneering miracles. This is just putting a big and powerful enging in a very good designed body. For me the only hypercars right now are Porsche 918 and McLaren P1. LaFerarri is debatable tho. The technologies used in that cars are just mind blowing.

Anyway i LOVE how it looks and the top speed is an awesome addition. Don't know why you'd want to go that fast but yeah aweosme i guess.

modern turbos have very little lag hence the veyron uses them wheras blowers suffer (more) parasitic loss while turbos use waste by products while creating a small amount of backpressure at low rpm which is good for torque and not so much back pressure at high rpm once the turbo is spooled which is good for power.

that and the fact that NHRA actually limits you to roots style blowers and turbo's are not allowed.

While turbos require tricky plumbing (which is why i like superchargers) they do allow you to fit intercoolers and watercoolers which reduce charge temps, you can fit cooling blocks that can sit between superchargers and the intake manifold but they are not as efficient and larger ones would make a big engine verrry tall.

watch streetoutlaws and hotrod drag week and you'll see plenty of guys switching from blowers to turbos.

I say it dpeends on the situation and role, for daily driving (even on a stupid fast car) i'd say theres no "better" option 1 way or the other.

"but those cars are just a big and powerful engine in a very good designed body with an electric motor", if you carry on the differentiation from sports car to super car then maybe it is a hypercar, ive been using the term hypercar to define a car capable of 240mph+ since i saw the mclaren f1 2 decades ago, now im at the point i dont care fwiw.

a rose by any name smells just as sweet, if somone wants to call it a hypercar or a mega-duper-supercar....let them, it doesnt change anything and noone else will care more or less about it.

Wrong Wrong Wrong. The 918 has a 4.8 V8 , not a 7.0 litre engine. And if you think the only thing is the hybrid part you are really wrong. For example the P1 has a suspension other like any other car ( not made by mclaren tho.)

To see how advanced the P1 is please watch this whole video:

Oh yeah did i mention the 918 has a fuel consumption of 3.0 litre/100KM , I find that much more impresive than going faster than a veyron. Things like this make it a hyper car and not just any ''regular'' super car

I have never really gotten all that thrilled about Hennessey cars. They are wild and over the top, but to me they are just missing something.

Ahem... can you please remove hypercar from the tags.

That 918 is right now the one car I want above all of them that I can't afford.

If i could have one car above all cars it would definetly be the Ferarri 410 SuperAmerica(na)

Omfg what a beauty

Sad that i will probably never own this car, even when i become a multi-milionair lol.

For $1,200,000 I would hope that you get a bit more than a tarted up Elise using an engine that still uses pushrods. :P

290mph top speed is nothing, do it in a mile. :o

Nah, not for me. Much rather have a Dacia Sandero :D

Personally I consider it a hypercar, as it goes above and beyond to achieve things that should not be feasibly possible. However, the current ultimate hypercar is the McLaren P1, with the Jaguar CX-75 the ultimate working prototype hypercar, due to those twin turbines.

I would quite like to see how fast it can go, but as with the veyron, no car tyres have been tested to operate at such high speeds without falling apart. The key engineering point really is the tyres and the braking from such speed: anyone remember the Dagger GT? That car has been designed to use a parachute to slow down from 300mph, so 290mph isn't much different, so surely some form of exotic (to road cars) braking capabilities will have to be used to prevent it from rolling when slowing down within the distance of the track they will have to use. Also, on this point, there isn't anywhere on the planet besides volkswagens test track that is Tarmac'd and long enough for a car like this to go flat out, and do you really thing VW are going to willingly hire out their track to someone who wants to take their top speed record away from them?
