What's something so underrated but is actually really good?

Haha, very funny really. Also not true. First and second gen as well as all earlier MacBooks had SODIMMs... Only now they don't. Same with other ultrabooks.

Well current macbooks are soldered. And yea I'm being facetious. I don't care that it's soldered. I just won't buy it then. Just like the razer blade 2014. Or other ultrabooks. I'm not sacrificing memory banks for 10 millimeters of thickness. I've taken plenty of macbooks and ultrabooks apart. Not easy to rip apart anyway, and a swappable memory bank would be a lot thicker. 

I wanted to act like I'm above taking sides then throw an apple punch in there. 

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Well, that logo is actually my big issue with it. Dammed glowing logos. Even on PCs

the R9 270 , at that price it really delivers near R9 270x performance without OC

I actually want the MacBook Air. I like something super thin. But maybe I can get a good Ultrabook for the price of one.

Well the Air is great, depending on what you want, obviously. The only real drawback is the the display, which is currently 1440x900 for the 13" (which would be just fine if it weren't TN...) I can tell you that it does still look absolutely fantastic. You can always check it out at some Apple Store tho.

Mechanical drives: the speed is not an issue for most of the common uses like storing lots of audio and video files. Streaming is good but it's nice to have offline things to use

I agree. I still love my 2TB drive to death, even if it's filled with only 80MB left.

Same, and if you're not dumb, they're troopers.

 

This 232GB Toshiba drive stuffed in my laptop (it's what it shipped with) has lasted with me for 4+ years and through whatever my dad's done on it for like 3. Never skipped a beat, never had an error.

sempron 145, single core, lowest grade cpu comparitively, but gives out more perfomance compared to it's power consumption, I've never felt it any different than using an i3 processor altho that one is a dual core.
