So I was looking at fans to buy one maybe online.... I mean those for us, not for our pc's. :D

Then I saw this:

http://www.bol.com/nl/p/dyson-mini-torenventilator-am07-grijs-blauw/9200000026502993/

What fan warrants 449 euro?!

It looks neat but that's it.

Dyson?!

Those kinds of fans are AMAZING. They're super silent aswell.

These fans have a more constant airflow unlike regular desk fans. They are super silent and cool a larger area. They are also fair superior in build quality.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

They are fairly quiet, when not on highest setting. Also, I think that one may be that alternating temperature one, which can be either hot or cold, with specific temperatures possible to achieve. That are very powerful and are bloody awesome.

not they aren't silent at all. My friend has them (everything from small, round,to that oval shape) and the sound they make is even more annoying than a normal stand fan. plus the intake fan place at the bottom just begs to suck up as much dust as possible.

magic is expensive.

They are damn loud though.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

The second part is true, and they're definetely not worth the money but i tried one in a hotel in Germany and it was freaking amazing.

When I first saw one, I totally wanted it. But then I saw the price...

No way to justify that price for a fan regardless of how much more advance it is over conventional fans. Portable AC units are less expensive.

All Dyson crap is way overpriced and overhyped, and yes I have experience with a lot of their products. I used to work for a high end home goods retailer that sold products that directly competed with Dyson. Their vacuums being one of the big ones. If you only use a Dyson vacuum in the same way the do in their commercials it works great. That means anything you are using the vacuum for is sitting up on top of the carpet.

But that's not how things work in real life. Dirt and other crap gets walked on and pushed down into the carpet fibers. With no brush to agitate the carpet fibers, the Dyson vacuums always came in last during testing. Their fans are also no better at moving air than any $20-$30 fan from Walmart. Yeah the Dyson fans may look nicer or operate with less noise, but that doesn't justify their outrageous price.

It's true. They are not worth the money. My friend regretted getting them after a few months (he moved to a new house that's why he bought like 4 of them at once). Plus the climate is quite hot here so you do need to run it at almost max speed to feel any cooling effect, hence the noise.

But Dyson's hand dryer is pretty cool tbh.Take less than 10sec to dry your hands.

Haven't those been proven to throw around like 2x the amount of bacteria? lol

If you don't have aircon, those fans might be worth it imo. (Probably not the Dyson ones though.)

The price is due to the word 'Dyson'.

The Apple of vacuums, fans, and other air tech.  :P
