A watch IMO is designed to do minimum tasks: tell time and notify. I choose pebble steel because I dont want to plug my watch in every night. I only need it to notify me of messages. And I need it to tell time. I dont need it to answer phone calls or take pictures or play games. I dont need it to be touch screen. Pebble steel is simple and beautiful.

I agree.  The smartwatch should compliment your phone. Having only one day battery use is ridiculous and is a deal breaker for me.  I suggest the Pebble Steel. If you want to reply to text messages with a tiny, gimped keyboard because you hate your life and are too lazy to get your phone out of your pocket then go for the G watch.

Android Wear is the best thing for wearables since the pebble was launched.

The Pebble is the more functional device right now from a simple user standpoint however that hasn't stopped me from selling mine and getting the Gear Live.

I know that I'm basically signing on as an early adopter/beta tester for Wear but I'm all for it. The beauty of the device is that you can CHOOSE how mininal you want your experience to be. No one is forcing you to type out a response or do anything you don't want to on the watch. I'd rather see a simple notification on a full color screen than the e ink display so thats why I chose.
