Google Glass? How do you feel about it.

sperkowsky

Hello after My recent little adventure to nyc glass basecamp I got to try out google glass. To start here are some pics from the trip.

I am starting this thread to have a little talk about google glass.

I personally thought it was pretty dumb at first and a bit overkill however after actually using them for an hour or so doing things like taking pictures calling people and even getting directions I see the value in it. The best way I think to explain it is a little 3 inch semi permiable hud in the right corner of your vision. The thing is it doesnt intrude your life nearly as much as I thought it would and the side of the head control just feels natural. So in my opinion I think glass will be something I will definately purchase if it hits the 300 dollar or less price range.

Also I think you guys should check the google glass basecamp out if your in the ny area or visiting the ny area its truly an awesome experience and its in the chelsea district one block from skyline park which is also pretty awesome :)

The whole Google Glass thing seems pretty illuminati to me.

It's a retarded waste of money that's only used by people who don't care what they look like in public and will do whatever they must to protect their right to wear a camera at all times.

It does nothing that you can't do with your phone and you look like you're having a seizure when you look up at it in public. The people that wear it generally don't care very much about the privacy of others, big surprise, they're all Google fanboys.

I think it has the potential to help push innovation forward.

And to @Builder, with your argument, wristwatches and standalone cameras are irrelevant as well, since you can take pictures and tell the time with your phone.

I think Glass is stupid, I would punch I guy in the face if he walked into the mens restrooms with glass on.  I would punch him so hard and throw his glass on the floor!

I hate getting filmed in public, and even though they may not be filming me I would be very defensive of my privacy and if I didn't punch them I would probably where sunglasses and a bandana.

They are mostly irrelevant.

I don't like getting filmed in public but a lot of Glass users seem to think it's ok. A good smartwatch is all I would need, though there hasn't been one yet as far as I'm concerned. I'm hoping that the iWatch will be better than the current crop.

I personally have a pebble and still see the benefits in glass. Honestly whats the difference if someone has there video camera filming around either way they can do it and with glass you can tell what someone is doing by looking at the glass piece so if someone is recording its obvious. You gotta think of the benefits instead of only thinking of the bad things. You could say the same thing for most technology theres a bad use for every inovation.

Hate it.

I can see how it could have great uses in, say, law enforcement, however I don't want to see everyone with one.

We're already too absorbed in our electronics. Don't need to make it easier. How annoying would it be to be talking to someone who's looking slightly up paying attention to something else entirely?

Then there's the whole picture taking problem.

I hope it crashes and burns. I think wearables are a much better idea.

isnt google glass technically a wearable :/ The whole thing with glass is so instead of people pulling out there phone to do something like look for reasturants on yelp they can do it with glass and atleast still partially being paying atention to the other person. Ironically enough the whole objective with glass was so people didnt stop social interaction

I see where that wouldnt be too comforting but the same could be said if someone walked in to bathroom holding up their phone if someone is wierd enough to tape people in a bathroom they are wierd enough to do it right with their phone imo

exactly what makes a watch more of a wearable then a pair of glasses :/ thats like saying pants are more clothing than shirts are

But neither watches or glasses are more "wearable" then each other. I dont get your point.

The difference is that it's much harder to tell if someone is filming you with glass. If they have their phone out and are pointing it at you then they're probably filming you. Same with cameras. With Glass, if they're looking at you, they could be filming you. Simple as that.

No, but the fact that I will have more cameras pointed at me 24/7 does not make me comfortable. I don't think it does you either.

or what about something like galaxy gear you could record with that as discretly as you could with glass actually probally even more descretly

I understand it's purpose. Honestly, your view that half paying attention to someone is acceptable and not rude is a huge part of the problem.

It's socially unacceptable and quite rude.

Sadly I'm not surprised someone your age finds it an all right practice.
