No atm 4G in the UK is ridiculously expensive for no reason what so ever and as far as I know the only difference between the 2 phones is the 4G.

If the network you're on offers 4G (and you've looked at the tariffs) then maybe, but if you're on a tarriff that has just unlimited 3G then go for the regular Moto G and save your cash.

If you're on the network 'Three' then as they rollout 4G services (already in my area) there is no extra charge for their use and I'd definitely get the 4G capable device.

How long are you going to keep the phone?

IMO if youre going to use the phone for more than a few months I would get 4G. From my experience 4G coverage is great inside cities but needs more dense coverage in the countrysides.

Not on my network.

Been with three for 18 months, zero complaints so far I get H+ everywhere. (phone isn't 4G)

If you get H+, no. I find that's more than fast enough for pretty much every use, and uses less battery. LTE is nice if you can get a strong signal everywhere and the phone doesn't have to hunt as much.

Something to keep in mind, the 4G model has a microSD card slot, the 3G model does not. If that's something that you want, I'd go for it.

Personally if you also use it for music or media, that's a no brainer.

I heard that on 4G version you can add SD card, but I'm not sure. If you don't have 4G in your location then don't.

I have 4g on vodafone and will say the following about it:

1. I was happy with he speed of H+ and don't notice a massive speed difference when browsing but I do when downloading apps.

2. The frequency 4g signal works on is better at traveling through thick walls and the like, so I get 4g where previously I couldn't get H+ like at certain spots in my workplace.

Well, here in the US I'm only paying $30 (~£17.50) a month for 5GB of 4G/LTE data. So...I'd say that £40 extra a month isn't worth it. It's a bit too pricey, especially when your 4G/LTE coverage will more than likely be shotty.

Nah, if your area doesn't support it yet so there is no point in getting the 4g variant plus UK 4G is overpriced.

@Coombzy

Not really the only difference, there is a microSD card slot in it too. :)

The other thing to keep in mind is that the 4G version will have less ROMs and other development if you use that sort of thing

Actually, on 3 you can get unlimited 4G for £12.90 a month, that's cheap as chips tbh.

I'd go with the 4G edition, because it's more future proof, and more importantly, it comes with a micro SD card slot.. which the original one won't have.

Wait until the 4G one drops to £130, and it only costs £1.30 to unlock on Ebay.

The 4g's biggest added value is the expandable storage imho, and as I see here the speed difference isn't huge or service is not yet available everywhere, your choice.

I'm talking about a decent network that has the most service available not 3 god I would never trust them with my contract.

Been with them for almost a decade, they have been nothing but fantastic for me. I get speeds of around 60MB download and 13MB upload through 4G, service never drops unless I'm in a blackspot (happens with every network), and the deals are the cheapest, and so are their handsets.

Their customer service is simply abysmal and back in the day their sim cards made phones explode 3 of my dads friends had 3 mobile and have moved on because of the awful service they received it's also one of the worst rated networks in the UK.

To each their own I guess, never even heard of phones blowing up in my city, and I've always found their customer service to be fine, but I haven't had enough issues to even call customer service.

Either way, good luck finding a 4G network, use a tarrif comparing site.

Yes, 4G is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worth it as long as you use it every now and then. Like you, 4G is not available where I live but I go into 4G zones every now and then, but 4G isn't more expensive than 3G
