Skeptical Apple would heavily feature sapphire glass in its upcoming iPhone? A supposed front panel has leaked for the rumored device, showing just how durable the material is. In the video, via Sonny Dickson, the panel is bent quite considerably, but doesn’t buckle under the pressure. It’s pretty impressive, and should give hope to those who have ever cracked their device’s display due to dropping or similar incident

pretty interesting after Corning bashed sapphire saying it was scratch resistant but horribly brittle unlike Gorilla-Glass

cool, but if you bent the screen like that, the LCD would crack and the backlight would break its seal. LOL

I don't care if it can bend, I care if it will withstand being dropped. Being slightly flexable does not inherently mean it will be shock resistant.

Flexibility isn't that important for glass.

What it needs is to be able to tolerate a high amount of force on a very concentrated area for a fraction of a second.

It's important for building thin devices that flex more under bending and torsion forces than thick ones.
