Lian Li releases two new desk cases

1l.jpg

We've all seen modders, including LTT members custom build desks to house PCs and a few other small companies have also made their own designs. Lian li will now be releasing two desks the DK-01X and the DK-02X, both will be made of aluminium with 8 drive bays per system and three monitor mounts with the biggest difference being that the DK-02X is bigger and can house two PCs rather than one (one up to HPTX and another mITX system). Prices are expected to be around the $990 and $1200 for the DK-01X and DK-02X respectively, very expensive. Check the video below for more details.

True, but tbh they're both too small of a desk for me to consider it anyway, especially compared to my current large L shaped one. :P.

Yay

Yay

yay

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Talk about a literal desktop computer. Too flashy for my tastes, but it could work wonders in an office, business, production sort of an environment.

Offices? why do you think so? I mean usually in that case it's preferable to have a pc desk which is much cheaper and the top is not so thick so it's much more comfortable to use the whole surface, especially in larger companies it also makes much more sense to just replace the whole computers anyway. This is definitely more aimed towards enthusiasts.

True, it's usually almost impossible to hide cables in desk cases though, usually it's best to get sleeved cables and make them a feature. They do seem to have some sort of clip in front of the PSU, it would have been nice to have more, though, or maybe some sticky clips to put wherever you want.

Depends on how solid and the quality of the desk. Some nice office desks can go upwards of a few thousand USD. If they make this a nice high quality desk (Which it's Lian Li, so I trust they will) it might actually be a fairly cost effective option. Ive been needing a new desk and I may look into this.

I guess so, but I don't think I could justify spending $1000 on what is effectively a very small desk and a case. I guess it's slightly more space efficient but tbh the only big reason I see is if you really like the design of it (which I don't, although maybe the 02 could be nice with some modifications to mount a WC system instead of the ITX system, but that costs $1200...) and don't mind spending a lot, I don't think I could justify it in terms of cost though.

ive seen it, i have a friend who wants to do a high end build in it but i think he should just get a regular pc, mainly because i dont really know much about this yet, actually it would be awesome if Linus did a review of this @LinusTech you should review this!
