that's what im saying, stop playing current AAA games, they're all the same boring repetitive formula basically...

 

maybe play something about a subject that interests you,  or as said, simply something entirely new - to you.

All the fun has migrated from GPU-burning AAA games to AA's and indies...and hot take, arguably East Asian gacha games.

 

Right now I'm playing Palworld, the Pokemon-like creature collecting, survival crafting, base building, worker (Pal) management and shooting in this game really hooked me. And the Pals look silly as hell.

 

In fact, I'd argue the gaming industry needs less ultra photorealistic GPU-melter games with bland gameplay, and more games with stylized graphics which are actually fun to play.

Don't think there's any rootkit-y anticheats in Palworld, at the very least no EasyAC like in Elden Ring.

Bannerlord 2 and Witcher 3 had been the last few games I truly enjoyed.

Agree with the comments that mention indie games. AAA games are at a point where every game almost looks the same and has the same mechanics, studios are focusing on multiplayer rather than solo games and the few that are released are either boring (Bethesda), more of the same (EA), or ridiculous (Ubisoft) and aren't enjoyable if you've played previous games.

 

imo the good era of gaming ended around 2015, with few exceptions like Elden Ring, Sekiro, Cyberpunk, Death Stranding, Tsushima... (notice how most of those games are "Asian") the franchises of old are dead, or rather undead, turned into shameless moneygrabs or propaganda machinery, I lost interest in franchises we can call "western" years ago, because I felt -and still feel the same- games turned into interactive lectures that yap about them social issues to cater to script guidelines that prevent their NYSE shares from going down, instead of, well, tell a FICTIONAL story, that's the whole point for me, I play a game because it's different to reality, I play a game to fight monsters, shoot aliens, blow things up, whatever, not to stare at a screen while NPCs read a script about how bad and guilty I should feel because of XYZ thing that happened 100, 200 or 500 years ago.

I find that boring and stupid, but the developers will say I'm a "troll" part of the "toxic fanbase" that "either changes or disappears", any criticism is taken as trolling by these companies.
