setting up a local steam cache

I have never had a large ssd, im cool with that. however what i do have is a fast internet connection, and a large hard drive. instead of uninstalling and reinstalling directly from the web, i thought i could setup a steam cache. anyone have any good tutorials?

Do you have multiple computers?

Why not move games between the hdd and ssd? I dont see a cache working here.

It's a ton of wasted money and resources because you basically need a spare PC. I was hoping steam cache meant you can leave the files on a server so you basically have a light install on your machine. But it's actually another place to store information and you still have to install the full game on your local machine. The cache updates and then you still have to update your local install. It really makes sense if you have a large LAN of like at least 2 people and a game that is constantly having huge updates. It's usually the first download that takes a long time. The incremental updates are usually not that big.

I mean if you have a fast internet bandwidth with no cap, I would take full advantage of it and let steam handle their own cache lol

I recall I got a 2TB Sata SSD on sale for under $100. Why not just wait for a sale and get a bigger SSD? SATA SSD should be good enough, at least it was for me.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
