How to HDMI ouput, only DP on motherboard for integrated graphics?

Go to solution Solved by leclod,

No, but you could buy a cheap used graphic card.

By the way, which naughty motherboard only has a DP port ?

I want to connect my TV to my PC using HDMI cable. But the motherboard only has DP ports. I have been using an DP to HDMI adapter that supports 4K 60Hz. But it failed after 2 years. Before buying another one, I want to know is there any other reliable solution to this.

May be a stupid question: Is there PCI/PCIe card that outputs the integrated graphics to an HDMI port?

Could always get a older Graphics card that has HDMI. GTX9XX series should be rather cheap now if you can find one second hand. otherwise you can get HDMI-DP Cables rather than an adapter

i believe the answer is no. The only cards with a display output are gonna be GPUs and it can't output the video of the igpu. best bet is to get an old cheap card if the only need is basic video output.

Just get another cable, it’s the cheapest solution here in costing $10 tops. DisplayPort to HDMI is just a passive adapter, it’s not doing anything special.

Otherwise just add some form of GPU with an hdmi port.

Like the thing that you’re thinking of exists, but not for HDMI as far as I’m aware? There were some office PCs that had these add on cards which just added a video port for the igpu, they’re not video cards, they’re just a port.

But these went out of style a long time ago.

DisplayPort to HDMI is very much an active adapter.  I have a few, they get quite warm.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

I'm certain that's not true. I have used passive ones loads of times at work and home. Zero warmth/heating issues with them.

Thanks, I never knew that active is only required for HDMI 2.0 upwards.

I guess I should have known as my HDMI 1.4 adapters are much lighter (and cheaper) than the 2.0 adapter.
