Is the monitor "bad" for counter strike

Ninjakiw1

I run a csgo org with about 250 members and we were just casually chatting, me and a couple of others about monitors, and they were arguing about 1080p vs 1440p and the pros and cons and then I showed a monitor I was considering upgrading to, the Samsung Odyssey G6 (https://www.samsung.com/dk/monitors/gaming/odyssey-g65b-g6-27-inch-240hz-1ms-curved-qhd-1440p-ls27bg650euxen/) or the Odyssey G7 (https://www.samsung.com/dk/monitors/gaming/odyssey-g7-27-inch-240hz-1ms-curved-lc27g75tqspxen/) but they were talking about "oh, It's bad for csgo", and I really can't understand why that would be.

Its 27", 240hz gaming monitor made by Samsung which from my knowledge makes pretty good panels so I'm really confused, am I dumb or are they wrong, can someone please help me out here?

Which monitors are you currently using?

It might be the fact that it's a VA panel instead of IPS (or maybe even TN for response times) and those have been notorious for smearing while an IPS is quite a bit better

since you have a lot of members I'm assuming you're looking for value for monitors

Here are some good options for 1080p

Asus TUF Gaming VG249QM1A 23.8" 1920 x 1080 270 Hz Monitor (90LM06J0-B023B0) - PCPartPicker

Asus TUF Gaming VG279QM 27.0" 1920 x 1080 280 Hz Monitor (VG279QM) - PCPartPicker - pixel density won't be great on this one so keep that in mind

and for 1440p

Gigabyte M27Q-X 27.0" 2560 x 1440 240 Hz Monitor (M27Q-X) - PCPartPicker

Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQML1A 27.0" 2560 x 1440 260 Hz Monitor (TUF Gaming VG27AQML1A) - PCPartPicker

yeah, they are both VA while my current once is an LG Ultragear (IPS), So I'm looking for a monitor that is 1440p (or 4k i guess), with height adjust, tilt swivel, all of that and  240hz refreshrate

VA Panels are generally hot garbage for high FPS shooters. Stick with IPS panels when it comes to shooter games. VA has come a long way, but its still sub-par when it comes to smearing and just not great performance.

Hopefully OLED will continue to drop in price, as that will be the best performing and looking screen by far.

Is this just for you or the people in the org as well?

The M27Q-X above doesn't have swivel but it as everything else and the cheapest alternative I could find was nearly double the price (an ASUS ROG)

Only VA that's ok is higher end one from Samsung but for fpa focused scenario better options out there. Just depends how much one is willing to spend.

If the monitor is only used for CS2, then get the Viewsonic XG2431. It's a 24" 1080p 240Hz IPS monitor that offers everything that could make an impact for games like Counter Strike. On top of that it has an amazing backlight strobing feature that brings top-tier motion performance. It's one of the very few "Blur Busters certified" monitors out there.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
