Hey guys, hope youll are well, and having a great December sofar, Im first time poster, please be kind.

Im having a lil problem, got new headphones (Sennheiser 350BT), when connected to Discord or Teams, theres a pass through that for some reason is turned on, and any audio thats being played while in a meeting or chat, is horribly mutted, does anyone know of a solution to fix the audio qualitym and where to turn off the pass through, its giving me a headache, ive been asking the AI overlords, but they keep directing me to things that have nothing to do with the issue im having.

Please and thank you ❤️

I have a similar issue where the quality just drops to poo when wearing a headset and going into a call or voice chat. What fixed it for me is selecting a different microphone than your headset mic as the input in the windows settings

It likely uses a different BT protocol when used as a headset than as headphones, as two signals need to fit in the same bandwidth the quality is reduced. This is a common thing with BT headsets, not sure there is any fix for it.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Its bluetooth on windows always has been crap drops into call quality mode which isnt avoidable when you start the mic

The fact that Microsoft has yet to fix this is beyond me. It appears that Apple has been able to figure this out on all their products, but Windows still seems to default back to the "Hands Free AG" setting

AFAIK there is simply no standard for higher quality with mic over BT.

Apple uses proprietary protocols between their own devices, so do gaming headsets that have a separate RF dongle to avoid BT's limitations.

Ehhh I don't know that I buy this. I use the same set of (sony) headphones for Teams calls on my Android phone vs my Windows desktop, the audio on my Android device sounds demonstrably better with lower latency. This, as far as I can tell, is a Windows specific issue with their implementation of BT.

As stated, there's a shift in how bluetooth operates when you shift from 100% of the capacity going to headphone quality to 50/50 split between headphones and microphone.

It's good enough for voice calls since the human vocal range isn't that broad (read: less data needed) but it's trash for even casual listening to music.

There's also a whole host of craziness involving audio codecs as well. It's not entirely my forte. I often just "settle" when it doesn't matter and use dedicated devices when it does matter.

Found the Mic issue here

Still on the search for the pass through issue

BTW, the pass through issue is not an "Issue" its a "feature" and becuse many people like it, they dont feel the need to create a turn off switch. . .
