If i'm not mistaken, i got the same laptop in that exact config from a friend a while ago

Where did you get an SSD from that has the stupid dell connector? Or has you'rs sata?

It uses a standard 2.5" sata drive.

I freaked out this week. I got the dreaded "Randsomeware" word in the Windows Defender notification, as well as emails from Windows Defender. I went to Windows Security, Defender (whatever it's called) and tried "quarentining" it with no success. I figured out it came on a program installation CD I bought on Amazon, which possibly my computer was never infected and just popping out the CD would have stopped the incessant notifications from Windows. But anyhow, I was determined to make sure I didn't have a virus on my computer.

  • So I took out the CD (and will probably send it back) and disconnected the computer from the interet.
  • Actually I turned off the internet completely. (PS, I meant my Wi-Fi, not the world wide web).
  • I fired up my Surface and unlinked my OneDrive offline. I turned the internet back on and went to OneDrive Live and deleted all 600GB of my stuff.
  • Then I downloaded the installation media for Windows 11 and made a USB.
  • I rebooted the potentially infected desktop with the installation media
  • After getting the desktop going and updating and such I turned on my backup hard drive and transfered over the 600GB or so of my stuff and then turned it back off.
  • Then I watched OneDrive start its process of uploading there and downloading back onto the Surface.
  • I threw on most of my apps and games (still have a few that I don't use that much to put on later),
  • And 6 days later everything seems back to normal.

The end. Thanks for reading all that if you made it this far.

I topped up my coolant loop the other day. Might be the 10th or so time I've topped it up since building it at the end of 2019. Which means it's been running for nearly 4 years with very minimal maintenance.

I gave my new RX 6600 a good testing.

It replaced my 4GB RX580 and I realise now I cannot use my PC to heat my room while I game anymore... Its dropping to under 18C so I am off to bed rather than putting the heater on.

Because I suddenly got really lazy to even play a game

I started building it:

Nearly done but waiting on one last piece, installing the rest of the fans, and maybe a tiny bit more cleaning up with cable ties in the back.

I got an RTC battery and put it in the ol' Asus eeePC 4g Surf (701). The old was kaput.

Sadly I didn't connect the track pad correctly, so I'll have to open it back up and try to get that connected. Hopefully I didn't damage the ribbon cable.

This is a bad thing but I am in the process of getting a flash drive to fix it so I don’t need any help with this.

I accidentally deleted most of not all of my drivers. So no WiFi, Bluetooth, graphics, and anything else that I can do on my computer. Good news though, as I mentioned I am getting a flash drive to download the drivers to that and download from that because I can’t access the internet because I don’t have the drivers, and can’t download them from asus’s website because well, I don’t have the WiFi drivers.

wish me luck with the fixing of my horrible mistake.
