DeepCool Assassin-IV Now Released and Reviewed!!!

I have no doubts that it will beat a D15. It isn't hard to do at all these days. D15 lost rank back in 2016.

True its not the absolute best anymore but its still top dog at cooling for a certain noise level.

That part Im sure the new Assassin-IV just won't be able to match. Theres just something about those Noctua fans that make them ultra silent.

Deepcool fans lack many design choices that make Noctua fans ultra silent, like:

1. no LCP (Liquid-Crystal Polymer) material used in construction of the fan.

2. no ring around the blades (alternative to above)

3. no Inner Surface Microstructures (Squama geometry on either the inside of the frame or the blades)

4. no indents on the blades (alternative to squama on the blades)

There are some stuff that the Deepcool fans do have:

a) yes stepped inlet (seems to be large enough)

b) yes quiet and silent bearing+motor design

c) good enough rubber isolation (against vibrations).

Hopefully the 140mm fan is as good as the 120mm and 92mm fans. The Deepcool fans have great performance (not counting general noise or weird low/high frequency noise).

And I've found the new 92mm Deepcool fan to be dead silent, it's a more superior product than the 120mm Deepcool FC/FK 120.

Well that's weird, the only one not super impressed with the design seems to be Steve from GN

@GuiltySpark_

Really??? 150 Euros for the new Gen 2???

I mean you can't go wrong with either cooler but damn, that 8 years of R&D did a number on the pricing, thats pretty much insane and unheard of for an Air Cooler.

And the Assassin-IV will certainly look better than even the Chromax edition, and it should be here in a month or two so... Probably gonna stick with the Assassin-IV.

The thing is the heatsink would have been quick development. All the tech used is old news, they were just waiting for the fans basically...

Thermalright has had an 8x 6mm pipe cooler in the past.. maybe they will make another one. Or another 6x 8mm pipe cooler.

Ehh.. as for the cooler in the thread title.. not really interested 😄

But if it performs, then my mind will be changed 😄

You don't think that anything they did to optimize the heatpipes was novel?

We don’t know if they did anything. They lied about the type of pipes on their last flagship.

That seems to be what the industry is about: marketing (lies), paying off influencers and reviewers,  and nerfing products after they get favorable reviews. 😡

Scythe, Thermalright, and Noctua are legit. I call them The Big 3, because they made heatsinks what they are today. In that order.

I mean shoving 8 x 6mm heat pipes into the upcoming D-15 Gen-2... - That part probably took a bit of development but certainly not 8 years worth, maybe a year at best.

All and all, a heatsink that uses only slightly modified queues from existing designs is just not that advanced.

However, I am sure that we are all well-aware that Noctua makes some of the best fans on planet Earth.

Becoming obsessive with R&D for 8 years in order to improve those fans may sound like a rediculous proposition, but it actually makes perfect sense considering how good Noctua Fans already are and improving further must have seemed impossible ay first.

@RevGAM

@GuiltySpark_

No worries, the Assassin-IV will certainly perform well, Im sure it will either match the current Gen-1 Noctua D-15 or beat it by a degree or two.

However, that new Gen-2 D-15 looks to be a bit of a monster, especially with those 8 years of development on those fans.

And if Noctua follows the trend of every other cooler in the industry right now thanks to super-hot modern CPUs, I wouldn't be surprised if Noctua increased the RPM of these new fans. If they managed to hit 1800 RPM or so with this super-advanced new blade design, there won't be much on the market that can match it, especially in noise-normallized testing like Gamers Nexus does.

Im sure there is a very good reason it is projected to be the most expensive air-cooler ever designed.

If you look at delivery date estimate its July 19-Aug 09. So at least we have a release date now 🤣
