Is pc hardware expensive where you live?

Expensive is all relative to your income. For some people spending 8 grand on a system is pocket change and nothing computer hardware related to them is expensive, to others buying a 20$ fan is expensive. Speaking of hardware, I am itching to buy some more lol.

Everyone outside America is paying too much to subsidise those cheapskates.

eg Titan Black

microcenter $1019.00

PCCaseGear A$1429 (~US$1386)

Even taking off the 10% GST there is still a US$200+ difference; it doesn't come with the free game either.

Well here things tend to be more expensive compared to the USA. Say for example the MSI 780 TI which is 709 dollars or the actual price for which it is sold here 631.590 pesos.

The dollar is around 566 pesos so 709 dollar converted to pesos is 709*566 = 401.294 pesos, and it is being sold at 631.590 pesos or 1115,8 dollars. So taxes and a bunch of other factors are quite annoying. Especially since average income here is around 243 thousand pesos. So yep things are expensive here in Chile.

Yes computer components are expensive where i live. I live in southern Ontario, Canada. Computer parts are a lot more expensive here than they are in places like the United States.

Comparison:

American Site: EVGA GTX 780 ACX $519.99 USD = $562.08 CDN http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130918

Canadian Site: EVGA GTX 780 ACX $609.99 CDN = $562.33 USD http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130918

On top of that, you have to add the 13% tax which takes the price up way too high!

PC Specs

Asus Rampage IV Extreme | Intel i7 3930K @ 4.7GHz | Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 32GB (8x4GB) | MSI GTX 980 +200MHz +200MHz | Corsair HX1050i PSU

Hei, Hatsune here and I wonder is pc hardware expensive where you live? Where I live for the moment (Sweden) most computer componets seem to skyrocket from the regular 1 dollar = 6.6 sek to 1 dollar = 9 sek which is insane...

So is it expensive where you live? And if so please post where you are from :3

I prefer that instead of looking at the profile info box thing. Thanks

I also live in Sweden and yes, hardware is a not all that cheap here. Even though I'm waiting for both Haswell refresh and Nvidias 800-series, I quickly looked at the prices for the parts of my new PC yesterday and yep, they are expansive.

I live in NZ and all tech stuff is expensive here as it has to be imported.

using the titan black example:

US = $1019USD

NZ = $1505USD

I am about to spend about $2500NZD on watercooling my PC, 25% of that is shipping from the states.

Good question, nice topic, AND BETTER COMUNITY...

Well lets see is my first time posting at linustechtips so hello world here I am.

I'm from somewhere of southern Europe, from a City called Barcelona beside the mediterranean sea  :ph34r:

So in this side of the world now we live in €uro Money Comunity.

If you want to do a hardware shopping today at the Spanish State with your USD money yo will need  1,376 dollar to have a Euro.

Taking a look at the hardware price's, we found similars numbers to the american ones, yeah similar numbers, however in exchange its cost is larger enough.

An intel CoreI5 4670K cpu price is about 200€ (275 USD). an I7-4770K about 270. (370 USD)

On the other side we can find FX procesor like 8350 for 160€(220 USD), or a Kaveri APU about 150€.

Talking about graphics cards, A High end one like GTX 780Ti its avalaible from the fucking and scaring price of 620€.... I think that this is inhumane eh? Titan black since 900..

You can get a Radeon 290 for 400€ and the lasta 295X from 1300....

However, I seen better prices than here browsing on UK sites, and lowest prices also in costumized machines.

I also saved some money ordering some thing from Germany, even pating transportation of course. I think that problem in here is they don't respect values about money conversion, well just for saying anything but I don't I thing this is hardware cannibalism.

That equals to some 420-425 USA dollars if I'm right, so the Caribbean wins! Wait... this is nothing to be proud of. :(

At least is a USA territory, I buy from online stores. :D

Yarrrrrrr,

It be very very expensive, but that mainly be the cost of gettin' it delivered at sea anywhere on the world.

I usually wait till I reach a harbor, and then buy at local price. So it can depend on where I be.

Yarrrr, ye be warned lily-livered scallywags
