More or less. On a wan show couple of weeks back they talked about it.
If you request all your data YT will send you ALL YOUR DATA.
Even videos you deleted from your channel.

The same exact thing happened to my YouTube and Google accounts. I'm not a big YouTuber, i was just creeping up on 50k subscribers. Google ignored my calls for help. I filled out the hard to find Hi-jacked account forms, i emailed google. I called them on the phone. Nothing.  I guess they just don't care about the little guys. I still don't have my accounts back. It's been nearly a month since the hack. The way Google has handled this, it may be time to start exploring alternative platforms. The problem is, YouTube is where the audience is.  it's a real shame. 😞

Not seeing Jake savagely put down Linus 5 times in ten minutes.

LMG has multiple backup servers where they store their content (likely raw footage and final cuts uploaded to YT)...
Do you even watch their content? So many videos referencing their "Vault" servers, "Editing servers" and even ones about how they lost some content due to improper server configs, then recovered a bunch of it.

So yea, they might not have everything backed up but they certainly won't loose everything between YT's own backup/restore and their "Vault".

Not that I think anything will be lost, as I'm sure it's not really deleted on youtube, but Linus has said in a few videos they don't have everything and they'd download from youtube if they need it.

Videos in and around the most recent data loss on their server would be when it was said. Also naming it vault doesn't mean it contains everything, working in IT I find their server names comically pointless but whatever works for them.

I'd say this is a good incentive or reason, if any, to get that 24-hour WAN-show going to...

  1. Get as much subscribers back as possible
  2. Have some experts chime in on various topics
  3. Have some people from the lab over and if willing talk about why choose LMG as your new employer and talk about your passion
  4. Invite some fellow YouTubers over for a chat
  5. Prizes, contests, polls, et cetera
  6. I want to see other crew-members struggling live 😆

I don't usually lurk around the LTT forums, but damn. Getting hacked does suck. I'm hoping YouTube restores the channel (and any other sub-channels)

SomeOrinaryGamers does mention that YouTube doesn't have good safeguards regarding these type of events. He does mention that YouTube should implement a "lockdown mode" instead of displaying that the account was terminated as it can cause confusion.

I can already feel the LTT forum getting "DDoSed" by legitimate user traffic trying to figure out what's going on.

My understanding on YouTube is that videos arent actually deleted straight away. They're just marked as deleted and removed, much like a recycle bin.

@Jarsky is correct. YouTube does not instantly wipe channels in case if the terminations are falsely issued. YouTube will hold on to the data for a certain amount of time (I don't know how long, specifically). Even then, filing an appeal to YouTube is like talking to a brick wall in most cases.

Here's hope for the LTT team to recover the account.

So let's look at this from the positive side.
The possibilities for new merchandise are pretty much endless now.

I would buy a shirt that said "I was there for the great LTT Hack of '23.", along with the LTeslaTesla logo.
