LG C2 42" Color Temperature (For Gaming)

Hello Everyone,

New to these forums, I was wondering what you guys, think about Color Temperature in Gaming ( Playstation, Xbox, Pc)

Particulary on a TV (Oled in my case)

Every expert in youtube Recommends Warm 2 or Warm 50

And I just find it sliglty off, more yellow than its supposed to be.

By default the LG C2 is in Neutral Color temperature at 0, but people recommend going all the way to warm 50.

Just curious if LMG talked about this and also what is your preference.

Thanks!

As long you are not doing any colour critical work (eg. colour correction in photoshop) it is a simple matter of your taste. Use whatever setting you like best.

Warm is usually the most accurate around 6500K, but it can look yellowy if you switch between modes. You have to realize that humans are insanely bad at actually judging what white is supposed to look like, so if you leave it on warm after a bit your eyes will adjust and if you switch to neutral again everything will start looking like it has a blue tint.

Yeah I noticed Neutral(0) Seems kinda blueish.

But what about lets say Warm 25 instead of going all the way to 50. Does it only affect whites or do other colors shift also.

I just want it to be accurate. And 50 doesnt look like that to me.

Well it's hard to tell what is what on your particular panel, but on RTINGS review they used warm 50 and it still had a 7000K white point, which is more towards blue.

Well, I will give it a week or 2 maybe my eyes just need adjusting since Im staring at blue computer screens at work all day.

The problem with looking accurate is that, as mentioned above, our eyes are quite bad at judging colour accuracy without a reference to, well, reference to, because our brains basically auto white balance what we see to bring it closer to what we expect. Additionally, what we expect is what we are used to. If all you ever see are blue screens, then even a properly calibrated one may look rather yellow at first. The recommendation for my C9 was Warm 2, which also took me a a bit to adjust to. Give it some time.

Ultimately, if you particularly care about accuracy perhaps look into calibrating it or getting it calibrated.

It doesn't matter as you are not doing productivity that needs accuracy, just put what you prefer.

Me wise I do put warm 2 for my C9 for movies purposes. As most people highlight, it do take some times to adjust on it. Once you start to love warm 2, then you will notice original out of the box is too blueish.

As has already been mentioned, If you stick to one setting for any length of time, going to a different one will look way off white due to how our eyes ..or rather our brain ..adapts to a given 'temperature' of white.

If u've been used to display that come poorly calibrated out of the bo (most displays) with very 'cool' white balance, a more 'accurate' white balance closer to 6500k will look exceptionally yellow to you. At least for a while, eventually ull get used to it and it wont look yellow.

if you can, try to stick to the 6500k mark, as its what nearly all content is mastered at and as such ull be seeing what the creator intends.

That being said, for non color critical work and content consumption, choose what ever you prefer.

I am using Warm 2 (50) for movies and tv shows and what not.

But my question was specifically about Games and Gaming.

What do you guys use for Games.

Game mode comes out of the box at Neutral (0)

I am using Warm 50 for Games on the ps5 now and for example UI stuff thats supposed to be white looks off white, not pure white.

Just put the one you prefer. They is no rules for colour temperature especially on gaming.

I also have a C2 and i get the most accuracte picture at Warm 42 and then tweak red to -9 and blue to -3. That results in a perfect 6500K white balance on my unit. Warm 50 results in a slightly warmer picture than what you're aiming for when looking for accuracity.

Color temp at 0 is just way too cold and looks unnatural.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I'll gladly help you in getting the most out of your C2. I do have calibration hardware so i can give pretty in-depth tips in this regard.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Hey, Thanks for your suggestions!

But I heard I shouldnt copy other peoples White balance settings, cause every unit is different, and I dont have calibration hardware.

What would you recommned if picture is too warm? Even tho Im not sure.

Just droping it to 42-40?

Yeah try that. Color temperature 42 comes closest to 6500K for me without further calibrating specific colors. Like you said you shouldn't blindly copy other people's settings. Still, it doesn't hurt to try them out.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
