Photo time!

I know it's daytime outside, I have to close the curtain so the camera don't freak out.

Also, I don't actually use the laptop turned aside like this, it's just for the picture.

Keyboard is a really old Logitech wireless set plugged in to PS2 on Dell and sits on top of Dell for storage, usually sits in front of laptop or lap for use.

External drive enclosure (with a WD 2TB SMR) sitting on top of a modified OneAc Reference Ground Unit acting as a power strip is only temporary.

Specs:

Thinkpad X230T with Ultrabay 3 + Dell Optiplex 70980

Thinkpad have i5-3320M with 12GB of DDR3 at 1600MHz, paired with Samsung 860 Evo SATA 500G and a 256GB Liteon mSATA drive. It triple-boots Win Xp Tablet Edition, Win 7 and Win 10.

Optiplex (picked up from recycling center for free; thats why it have mismatching front bezel) have i7-10700 with 8 + 16GB of DDR4 at 2666MHz, paired with:

Over Linkreal PCIe x8 4-port NVMe M.2 SSD Adapter (PCIe switch, not a RAID controller) in x4 slot:

* BIWIN SSD (512GB)

* CA3-8D512-Q11 NVME LITEON 512GB

* SAMSUNG MZVLB512HBJQ-000L7

* WDC PC SN730 SDBPNTY-512G-1027

Motherboard (Intel SATA/PCIe premium controller):

* NVMe KXG60ZNV256G NVM

* NVMe SAMSUNG MZVLB256 (boot)

* WDC WD7500BPVX-60JC3T0 [0:0]

* TOSHIA MQ01ABD100 [0:1]

* HL-DT-ST DVD+ RW

and triple boots Win 10 Pro.

Most if not all the drives I get for "free" either from recycling center or from previous laptops that stopped working. The only drive I bought is the boot 256GB.

Monitor is a .. Dell .. something something. 1600x1200, not as square as the last 1280x1024, and despite not 16:9 is okay. DVI for Dell and VGA for X230T.

Dell outputs full 1600x1200 while X230T outputs dual 1366x768. It can't really drive full 1600x1200 externally, and mismatched vertical pixel count is pain.

Everyday Use:

I daily the X230T. The Optiplex act as file server + GTA machine. Offscreen I have a S230U I play exclusively Bloons Adventure Time Tower Defense. My Thinkpad T14S I use it mainly to torrent things and play other games. The Latitude 2600 I use it to access floppies (if any). And my Dell Inspiron 3511 is for backup.

This defo isn't replacing my normal PC even though it currently sits where my PC resides, frankly I'm not sure where it's gonna end up. It DESPERATELY needs a Pure Rock Slim 2, the 6700K sits at 95-100C... In TF2. At some point I'm sure I'll be able to afford it but that time is not now.

I can't control the RGB on the DDR5-6400 modules which is weird because aura sync does detect them.

I have Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 and I had to use G.SKILL Trident Z Lighting Control.

"Final" upgrades for now to the "HP" sidehoe. Threw the full-black copper slug cooler from my 11400 in here since my original one finally had a plastic clip fail (and it actually tames the 6700K at 4.4GHz perfectly), as well as adding an Asus WiFi card with an 8260 so I can have Bluetooth. Only thing left I want to do is get an NZXT USB hub at some point, it'll help with cable management and will let me use the card reader again. Still can't believe how much shit I was able to shove into this thing.

Yeah other than the usual Intel cooler motor whine I'm pretty happy with it. 4.4GHz/1.2v on my 6700K and with power draw in the mid-70s the cooler keeps it in the low-70s. I kinda wanna push my luck and try for 4.5 or even 4.6 lol

Ironically I like the cooler from my 11400 more than the 11400 itself, it's such a power hungry whore for no reason even though I have power tuned it as much as I possibly can.
