Posted June 20, 2022 The thermal expansion part where the cooler didn't fit in weren't going to be helped by cooling the plate down. If anything, cooling the plate makes the gap shrink and in turn the fit gets even tighter. However, having the option to screw on a portable heat sink would be nice, even a metal to metal interface can conduct a fair bit of heat if one don't want the hassle of thermal compounds or pads. Also, instead of using nuts to hold the block in place, why not just use screws? Though, from a prototyping standpoint, a threaded rod and not is a lot simpler. Posted June 21, 2022 Have to admit, the extra tight fit was soooooooo satisfying to watch. If it wasn't for the "thermal" (burning fingers) concern, just adding the hunk of metal to a deck would be pretty cool.
 Posted October 17, 2022 @AlexTheGreatish Kudos on the CAD! CNC'd/1 day shipped for $75 from Xometry and fits like a glove on OJ (Because, it should have). Hey, quick question for you or anyone else who knows... What is the size and pitch for the stand-off stud rods that you use to screw the adapting plate to the OG heat plate? Planning to just buy some rods and chop the suckers down and belt sand the "Alex heat plate" if needed. Timestamp when this is referenced: 11:35 Much love from Cali, born in St. Catharines, Ontario.
