ARK: Survival Evolved is free to own on Steam through June 19th.

Only played this 177h, but did have a good time.

Do see it has changed a bit since that but worth testing at least.

The "new" map Fjordur is also available now. I say "new" because it was originally a modded/fan made map. I guess devs liked it so much they gave it official support.

It shows all the maps as FREE. Do they stay free all the time? Or do I need to install and claim them all before this deal ends on June 19th?

All maps that are free stay free; however there are a few maps / DLC that are paid (genesis being the standout one) I believe Scorched Earth, Abberation, and Extinction are all paid maps. Ragnorak, Center, Crystal Isles and Valguero are all free. Lost island is also free, but I have not played that one yet. My personal favorite is Ragnorak, so I would not argue that you're "missing out" by not getting the paid maps. 

 

The game also has a HEAVY mod supporting community; I've had much more fun on private servers rather than official servers that sometimes suffer from Established users hogging up land (as the game has a built in "you cant build too close to someone else" so they run around planting metal pillars everywhere that are hard to destroy)
