My mom says not deleting internet history can allow hackers to hack you...

BeyondSmash
Go to solution Solved by Suika,

I just read that out to her and I got cut off in the middle of reading that sentence and she said "hey! don't speak to me like that" and "how dare you"

WHAT CAN I DO?!

At this point, there is no arguing with her. Let her go on in her foolish ways, because she seems to be the type that directly relates her authority to a better grasp on general knowledge.

Jesus she sounds like my mom....

For me what I did was explain it to her and if she doesn't listen well what can I do? No matter how many times I told her, she would not listen. So stubborn.

She has a one track mind.

wotm8?

Without even reading through the thread or asking for info, I can already tell we're dealing with 30 something-middle agers who use an older version of internet explorer and believe Norton is the best anti virus and other ridiculous things.Careless connecting to open hot spots is what leaves you open to hacking..

This seems like a giant mess, just ignore whatever she does on her PC. Let her to what she wants, since apparently you cant get through to her at all.

My dad made banana bread so I tried some and was going to finish eating it.

Alright, I'll just try not to talk to her for a while.

A.  your mom probably is just trying to find excuses to make you leave the internet history so she can see if you've been watching porn.

B. your mom need counselling because she cant handle being wrong, told she's wrong or even be questioned even though she knows she probably made it up to begin with.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

again clearing your history is not clearing cookies.

Usually when you clear your history it'll delete the cookies of sites visited only once within that session as a security measure to prevent against such attacks.

A. Not even close. Already stated the issue/scenario.

B. She said "maybe I'm wrong". I don't know if she is still in denial because someone at her job acclaimed to be a tech person has shared his info or what.

if you are talking about google Chrome, you can clear your cookies without deleting the history and you won't have a problem. it's just a bunch of tick boxes.

here is my advice dont worry about proving her wrong make her wrong. she probably doesnt know how to even set up your internet from the sound of it so here is my advice on getting back at her. use a remote desktop while she is using it i.e. splashtop that shit. connect with a strange name and say as the "hacker" in a text file you got in from uncleared internet history it will scare her. If you can use her pc disable her network card she will ask you to fix it so create and hide a BS error file in notepad called ERLANLog.txt its cryptic and sounds stupid so it might work have a bunch of ambiguous language basically saying its because she wont clear her internet history and it disabled itself. As for her being an ass  find something she needs you for and stop doing it my Dad was an ass to me for a while not this bad mind you but he needs someone to work full time because he just had hip surgery and cant stand up too long or lift very heavy stuff. So what did i do i stopped doing everything he needed yes you will get in trouble, but at the end of the day they still cant get their stuff done until you have done it

The first part of your paragraph will probably do more damage than needed. Also, on the topic of not doing something -- they would just say "we do so much for you so you can't do that for me?" or an equivalent. Also, to scare about the hacking. I'd rather not hear further bitching about it.
